The BIG question is will the AM3 be a scorcher or another lame release by AMD. People buying AM2 mobo are hoping the AM3 will rock and take back the CPU crown.
I think you mean AM2+...AM3 is rumored not to support AM2 CPU's, just AM2+. AM2+ is rumored to support AM2 however...so really the questions are what will the AM2+ platforms bring to the table over the current AM2 out now that would make buying this CPU now and upgrading to AM2+ worthwhile, and also will AM2+ CPU's be worth it vs. Intel CPU's at that point to make continued investment in AMD even worth it?
It's the last point I'm going back and forth over right now, as I'm utterly disappointed in what 690G is looking like...my faith has been sufficiently shaken in that debacle that Intel - especially with the E4300 being relatively cheap, and cheaper still when 690G finally gets around to actually being available - is actually looking attractive for a budget/budget+ build.
