Your don't need to shutdown the primes just change task manager to 'Processes' sort the 'Image Name's alphabetically then scroll to the two instances of Prime95. This shows total CPU time and both CPU usuages at 50 & 50 for both instances.

thirdly, don't tell me how to run stability tests, especially as you think a 32m pi is an accomplishment  i always run a 24 hour blend as my final test; it needs to pass small and large (10-12 hours), occt, pi's and 3d's before i even waste my time on a 24hour.

btw, you probably want to check out xs and read the posts where x2's are dying at your vcore.

Hey- don't get so defensive.

I'm just saying that it could be done, and that the screenshot doesn't show anything because you aren't currently priming.in it.

The poster above my last post asked if I had a superpi or Prime95 screenie, and I said no- so I did the quickest one I could. 2920 is the fastest I can pass superpi32M, so I took a quick one. -anyway, the whole thing is about outragous claims by people with superhigh OCs of 3800s - and so far I've only seen one screenshot of an X2 3800 running Prime95 (in the first post). If this thread was about 4800's, I wouldn't vote and make a claim without a *valid* screenshot. If Superpi32M doesn't prove anything- make a screenshot of your processer doing 32M half-way thru it.. OR how about Prime95 while it's running, instead of shutdown. You made the claim.. not me- so don't try and deflect it.

I STILL don't see any screenshots of these awesome OCs from 3800s that people are claiming.

If you don't want to spend 12hours doing Prime95 just for a screenshot- then lets see a Superpi32M- that's an easy one, right?

EDIT: Or.. how about 3DMark05, or CrystalMark, or some other benchmark that shows your stats when you ran the bench.. this is easy to do with your super-awesome stable system- right? You can just give us a link and we can check out all the stats..

sweet, thanks for the tip man. i never really paid attention to that.

now, let me get back on another 24 hour prime yeah, right...

if you have buyers remorse don't take it out on others. i mean some people enjoy paying 2.5 times the price for a 5% performance bump. more power to you.

how you're supposed to run pi when you have dual core  i still had dimes running so the score may be running a bit behind.

again, if you think its a stability test, ok. but both my machines run DC projects 24/7 on both cores when not gaming or something. i'd say thats a far better stability test.

crystalmark can be found in the crystalmark thread.

in conclusion... (compliments of m4h)

I don't bother with prime or pi anymore. If F@H doesn't turn in any early WU's, then its stable. right now I'm running 2.4 with my 3800+, stock vcore. My zalman is still running it a little toasty though, like 60C loads. Need an XP 120 or something i guess.

No buyers remorse here- my comp is very fast and I am very happy with it, and the OC I have out of it.

You STILL haven't shown a simple shot of 2 Prime95s running - I'm not asking for 24hours- how about 24 minutes - you are just making wild claims like everyone else, but no proof. It should be easy to just turn on 2 prime95s on small FFTs, and have a cpu-z screen showing that you are truly capable of running at that speed for even more than a couple minutes.

Like I said, I still haven't seen any proof. You've only shown a screenshot of 2Prime95s which aren't even running, and the cpu isn't currently loaded.

You make fun of Superpi32M, so just run it real quick and lets see a screenshot. It's easier to run, so you could probably do a 2800mhz Superpi32M - right? That'd be easy for you.

dude, get over yourself. i ain't jumping through any more hopps for you. you asked for pi 32m, i gave you pi 32m.

i have nothing to prove to you. i know i'm stable.

you? i've seen nothing from you except a sig with a vcore that will earn you a nice keychain in a couple months. enjoy

holy.... i just noticed, you're on water :Q oh, how disappointed you must be.

and yeah, this chip could definitely do 2800 but not at volts that i'm comfortable with. after all, i only have a lowly $29 xp-90 here. of course that included the fan

waiting on some screenies from you btw.

i had to run out to the store so i figured i'd throw on a couple primes just for you.

that is all. lol

"I can do a SuperPi32M at 2.92ghz, in fact. Prime95 won't pass that high without extra voltage though, and I'm not going over the 1.65 barrier. I'll reboot and switch to 2.92 and run SuperPi32M and take a screenie mid run. I'll post it up tonight.

EDIT: Here we go- I'm at 2920 right now, and took a screenshot of Superpi32M (which is still running btw). 2920"

Dude this is a 3800+ Thread your 4800+ runing a @2.8-2.9 is not Relevant.(Hope you didn't Vote)

And rise4310 did provide a screenshot @2700 which is a better oc than yours.

And Still no pics of any 3800+ @2.9

Here's the type of screenie I'm talking about:
2880 2 prime95s small FFTs

This is all you had to do instead of try so hard to avoid it.

I'm not dissapointed at all in my rig- my watercooling was a blast to setup, looks pretty cool, and my PCMark05 is the 9th fastest on futurmark.com- so it isn't exactly a slow machine. My rig is one of the fastest X2s out there, so why would I be dissapointed?

My whole reason for even getting involved in a silly argument like this is because people are gonna do research on CPUs, and assume they are going to easily overclock their 3800 to 2.7 - 3.0, based on this poll. Noone has yet shown 2 prime95s running small FFTs with a cpu-z screen yet.

So far, the x2 4400 is the best bang for the buck, and I haven't seen anything to show me that the 3800 is a better processer.

O.K., no more arguing - that is a good pic, and a great OC - I'll concede that.

One thing about all of this, is that with the X2s, there is a point that voltages start having rapidly diminishing returns. There is a point somewhere above 1.5v, that makes temperatures start really going thru the roof. For 2700mhz, I can use near stock voltage, at 2800mhz I need about 1.5v, and just going to 2850 requires at least 1.6v, and if I wanted to be prime95 stable at 2920, I would need insane voltage, somewhere in the 1.75v range probably.

Hey I have 7000b cu my cpu is about 34 idle and 52 at 100%load and thats at 1.4vcore runing @2380Mhz with the Fan on full speed.
Personaly I wouldn't go over 1.45 Without a Better cooler.

You might well get 2.5 Ghz or more with a bit more vcore than i am useing, if you don't mind higher temps.

i guess not concerned in prime my current 3800+ newcastle gets like 65 C prime so i dont mind much

im sure you get alot fo these questions but which is the better manchester or toledo for o/c? i cant find this answer....there many mixed opinions and i dont want to mess up buying the "wrong " one

Like you said there are mixed opinions, I have seen great oc's on both.
I think its just luck of the draw.

I was planning on getting a 4400+ X2 but this looks pretty damned impressive. Where will the 1MB L2 cache be missed most? I'll be sure to get a good HSF for the OC. And, ah, last q, how do you adjust vcore?

Super thanks,
Rektide

What's the lowest voltage set in the BIOS to achieve 2.5GHz? My heat sink is a Thermaltake A1772, so I want as low a voltage as possible to get 2.5GHz...
