$380 is that AMD's answer to the Pentium D 820 that sells for $240? Being that each core runs 1.8ghz thats like two Venice 3000+ yet it costs more than 2x the price. What's the deal here?

No, actually, each core runs at 2.0GHz, so each core is about equivalent to a 3200+ winchester.

I'm beginning to wonder if there really is a 4000 coming out. I've only seen info on the 3800.

ExcaliburPC hasn't been well known for low prices ever since their rocky reopening...I expect to see the 3800+ retail for $350 at somewhere like Monarch.

I'm not sure what's going on with ExcaliberPC, but they haven't actually reopened. They still have the message up that they are in beta mode and will have their grand opening sometime in June, 2005. I tried to call them, but no one ever answered the phone. Tried to post on their forum, wasn't able to. Something strange going on over there

i think they will, AMD is wanting to milk the money that they earn off of the other Toledo's (4400+ and 4800+), becuase the 10x multi Toledo (4000+) is THE overclockers chip, reason being it is a good core that everybody wants, with the right multi "x10", and it will be at the right price compared to the others.. i cant wait

I managed to stumble across someone who was going to buy one ( in euro ), so apparently they're real . If they are reasonably priced, I'm going to make the stretch for the 4000. I'm a pretty heavy duty multi-tasker the 1 mb cache would be really sweet.
