Make sure the rest of your system isn't limiting your OC, like mobo or PSU.

Or buy my 2x1MB Opty 170 and get 2.6GHz+

Dunno what the heck I got. Got it from Newegg though. Would post and would boot to Windows at 2.7ghz @1.4v but fail Prime95 almost immediately I'm sure if I bumped it to 1.45 or even 1.5 I could get it stable at 2700mhz but I didn't want to push the thermal constraints on this thing. My room in the summer is hot enough as is. Final stable overclock, 2640mhz @1.4v, 65C load in 100F outside temperature. This is higher in my room with no air conditioning and the doors closed. For roughly 9 hours it was in an uncooled room and for the rest of the time I had the air conditioning on.

I wouldn't go that far...the performance difference between 2.5Ghz and say 2.7Ghz isn't that much. I can pass SP2004 12+ hr @ 2.62 with a vcore of 1.45 but I don't think the thermal torture is worth it...if I had water or phase, that would be different...but as you can see by my sig below, I ended up at 2.5 to keep it cool and quiet

So don't be depressed...be happy you have a dual core that runs 25% OC for nothing!

did you knock down your HT multiplier to 3x or 4x? try using a ram divider? lock your agp(if you have it)? try flashing to latest bios....and also maybe try loosening the timings on your ram...

Mine can go as fast as 2.7 with full blast fan, but I'm keeping it at 2.5 w/ quiet setting.
Can't tell the diff between 2.5 & 2.7

i've always kept it at a 10x multipler and a 166 divider. What is yours at currently? all the specs.

I got my 3800+ stable at 2.9Ghz with a Zalman 9500. However, I was running 1.6 Vcore which was way more than i wanted...I managed to back it down to 1.45 @ 2.6 and run all my fans at low.

Running my LDBFE 0610SPAW 3800 from Newegg at 2.65 with 1.45v. 53 degrees at full load with SP2004 dual. 8hrs no errors. Tried 2.7 but locked up under SP2004. Think I will leave it here. May try moving multi to get my from my Mushkin PC4000. Only running it at around 218 now

If it makes you feel any better, mine isn't stable anywhere past 2.4 GHz.

Definitely lock your PCI-E and AGP buses.

He's talking about your HTT multiplier, which if you have it at the default of 5x (maybe this is shown as 'auto' in the BIOS until you change it) and go for 10 x 270 for 2.7Ghz, will give you a HTT of 1350 given your 'FSB' of 270 (270 x 5 = 1350), which would cause instability or, as in your case, would not boot at all. General rule is no performance hit if you stay below 1000 and above 600.

So find your HTT multiplier and lower it to 3x, and then try for 2.6-2.7Ghz.

This would give you a HTT frequency of 810Mhz and would be stable.

Use a RAM divider of 133 first to see how far the chip clocks, and then bring your memory into as good a spec as possible once you've found the chip's limit, i.e. try and get it to run as close to 400Mhz DDR as you can using different dividers if it's DDR 400 RAM.

Test stability using Prime etc.

2800Mhz Stock Heat sink + stock volts

On a cheap $60 asrock board.

I have been wanting to put this chip in my computer which has voltage options and better cooling but I don't have time...But I think it's 3ghz capable with right cooling and little volts help.

You 06 seems low for a 7800gtx. What was your cpu score on the 06bench? Mine is 7800gt (490/1200) and the 06's total is 4385 with cpu score ~ 1800.

Back to topic...My x2 has run into a brick wall at 2.4ghz which failed Super-Pi's 32M but passed evrything else ie prime95/memtest86 for 24hrs. Back down the clock to 2.3ghz which seems stable thus far.

your score is not low.

My system:
1900XTX + Amd 64 Winchester @ 2.3ghz only gives around 4850. And my graphic card is much much better especially if yours is 256mb. Your cpu can't giev you a boost of over 700-1000 points, can it? So isn't it fair?
