Far cry bugged out last night. Manually setting the affinity worked.

try installing the amd driver, it might fix all your problems and you wouldn't need to use the task-assigner program thing.

Update for my problem, tested out wow with my x800xt-pe and the 4400 and I had no troubles. Looks like its a nvidia issue for my rig anyway.

Side note - my 600w powerstream blew up last nite while just idle at desktop and took my 4400+ with it. (won't do anything in a different rig) Unhappy email inc to Ocz

I do not have the X2 driver installed, I do not set affinity for anything. I have no troubles with any games I have tried which include :

WoW, BF2, RTW, Doom3, farcry, Dom2, SEIV, Moo2, MoM, MK3, variety of emulated roms, wbc3, dawn of war, ee2, aow2, dungeon lords, sacred underworld, wesnoth, silent storm and spellforce.

I have not tried CS, HL2 or EQ.

Unhappy email ? if that OCZ was under warranty, I would ask for a new 4400 or go to the BBB !!!

Command & Conquer Generals + Zero Hour (hangs on start)

1) AthlonX2 4200+ on Abit AN8-Ultra w/Corsair 1GB PC3200 and Windows XP Pro x64
2) no X2 driver
3) latest nvidia driver on GeForce 6600GT
4) game is patched
5) latest nvidia forceware drivers
6) can't get far enough to mess with affinity, and RunFirst doesn't help.

Hey dude's, I'm new here and I've got a problem that I've been trying to solve since I brought the 4600+. I've been everwhere looking for a fix to this problem. No such luck for 2 days!

Here are all the things I've come across and found out, before I found this place. lol

I installed America'sArmy ( AA ) and when I went to run the game, I got a Credital Error right away saying this after I clicked on the AA.exe

No Label
OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD Unknown processor @ 6305 MHz with 1023MB RAM
Video: RADEON X800 XT (6561)

Negative delta time!

History: UGameEngine::Tick <- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop

yeah thats the full error message I get from AA.. Mind you the clock speed seems to differ from the 6305 Mhz to -5678 Mhz or at one stage 2345 Mhz.

I don't understand how the clockspeed can be in the minus tho?

What I've found out sofar from doing a hell of alot of searching..

Negative Delta Time is a possible issue with the unreal engine when having 2 processors or a dual core.

Some links to ut2004 threads with the same issue, ut2004 is a different game but its the same engine so the problem's cause is the same.

http://www.ataricommunity.com/forum...threadid=487077 <--- Read This one
http://www.ataricommunity.com/forum...threadid=381174

They both have possible ways to fix it though.

So there saying it's any game that use's the UNREAL Engine that has a problem deteching the DuleCore.

Also I had a major problem afterwards when trying to play BF2. I had BF2 installed 1st and was running smooth as for a day.. It was only lastnight that I decided to install AA to make sure it was goiing to run ok. Then I get the CE, understandable.. But when I went back to BF2, I join multi player and as soon as I do. Sound starts messing around with squilling and what not..

Then the screen goes black, then she reboot's.. I get a message at the start of windows/after its loaded up saying, Your system has recoverd from a cridital error. Problem caused by device driver or new hardware..

I didn't get this problem until I installed AA, and yes I uninstalled AA to see if it would fix the problem as it was the very last thing I installed.. But no go there, so I had nochoice but to do a system recovery in the end and now everythings back to normal and BF2 is working again.. This one has me stumped!!

Here's some of the dxdiag information

Ok....Like I tell everyone install the AMD X2 cpu driver I linked above...The first one sounds like a timer issue and right up the alley of whatg the driver fixes...

The 2nd one sound like possible corruption of the direct X sound drivers perhaps...I see that you are not OCing but perhaps your memory timings are a bit aggressive. If it does not happpen again at this speed eventually then it is not the memory thing...just throwing out ideas cause the last one is a bit odd...

As Duvie and I have repeatedly said INSTALL THE X2 DRIVER, IT PERMANENTLY FIXES THE PROBLEM FOR ALL GAMES !!!!!!

I didn't say I had the problem buddy. I said that this is a problem that can be corrected; that basically it's not worth all the fuss and exaggeration of it being such a big problem. Why do I say so? B/C there are people who actually have done most of the updates and still experience some issues (WHICH ARE BEING TAKEN CARE OF BY UPDATES FROM THE GAME MAKER). I didn't sh*t on AMD...those were fatty4ksu's words.

OK, when you buy a video card, you install a driver. When you buy a modem, you install a driver. by your own words "I admit this is a problem" you say it is a problem, but I ask why, when all you have to do is install the companies driver for the hardware ? That was and IS my contenion.

he's just one, i've read others...but im not gona bother to look for them. even tho others have WoW working, installing the patch alone might not be the fix, especially for all games, is my point. thats it.

Well, I will go back and look. I guess my point is, if one person gets wow to work by installing the driver than it must be something the other person is doing wrong. But lets see what develops.

1) X2 3800 @ 2.5Ghz
2) X2 driver is installed
3) ATI driver used (Catalyst 5.8 no CCC)
4) Latest game patches
5) 6.66 Nforce chipset drivers
6) whether changing affnity for process helps or not... (Haven't tried it yet.)

BF2 works no problems, and even before updating to the 6.66 drivers.

Diablo2 loads and plays, but doesn't exit cleanly, as it freezes the system when exiting the game.

CS:Source still doesn't load up. Will have to try the changing of affinity process.

All I have to say is I am pretty disappointed that X2s have this bug.

Before you judge, you have to try at stock speed.....

Ok, this is silly. You know what I'm really trying to say (I think) Mark. Problems are not always permanent kinds. There are temporary ones and in that respect, yes, it is a "problem." Fixible by downloading the driver? Almost all the time. Some people are still having problems though. Is is their error? I don't really know to be honest. I do know this so far though. Some people have their system @ stock speeds, all the updates installed, etc., and still this problem. Are they the idiots? Maybe. But that's why there's this thread. For those special "unfixable" situations, I think we'll either get to the root of the problem or just find out that the person was doing something wrong. I'm not disagreeing with you though.

btw, my friend installed the X2 driver, and it let C&C generals actually load. but then within minutes of entering a game, his computer just reboots. his memory timings are 2.5-3-3-8 and are exactly according to SPD.
