For those who care about the 2-3% performance different in running their system on a X38 chipset motherboard in comparison to a P35 chipset motherboard, these features will matter.

Intel has gone from a very conservative company in its top-end products to one that's getting increasingly enthusiastic. Why? Because they've discovered there's money to be made by adding that little bit extra and making the user feel very special owning the hardware. Intel has simply taken a leaf out of the likes of Corsair or OCZ who have both proven that a company that's small with hardly an office and no production or design capacity, can fabricate products marking them as superior and earn bucket loads in the process. Ah the wonders of outsourcing, where would they be without it.

People interested in 2-3% more performance are enthusiasts, and they don't need these features, because they already have programs that can tell them the extra SPD profiles on DDR2 (and even some DDR), and they already have programs that allow them to modify BIOS settings from the OS too.

So the people that would be interested in this won't be interested in this.
