I've narrowed the board down to the Vii Hero or the Taichi. Reviews seem to state that both are solid boards that ya can't go wrong with either. As much as I'd like to think that I'll be tweaking a lot, I'll most likely set it and forget it. Pairing it with a 2700X, and would like to O.C. some, but not extreme, stability is key as I'll use the system for work. Appreciate any thoughts on either board or a different one for that matter.

Was planning on this memory, but not seeing it listed on either boards vendor list, so I'm not sure if I should choose something more conservative? Again, appreciate any help/thoughts on a solid RGB memory option. Thank you.

You can put your motherboard model in at this site, and G.Skill will give you all the RAM that is certified to work with your board:

https://www.gskill.com/en/configurator

If it's not listed there, you can send a message to G.Skill's tech support, and they should be to tell you if there will be any issues.

I'll be honest, if you are just looking to set it and forget it with a quick overclock, especially on the AMD platform [Ryzen], I don't think you need to spend the kind of money those boards warrant. There's not much overclocking headroom with Ryzen. Just my 2 cents.

I appreciate that opinion, and that exact thought had me leaning towards the taichi (not ultimate), as its currently going for $210. I know thats still expensive, but the reviews seem to be good and it does fit my budget. With that said, can you suggest an alternative?

Hey, I tend to like Asus and Gigabyte boards. Gigabyte for their features and beautiful boards, and Asus for the same, but Asus's BIOS is a DREAM to work with.

These are both X470 boards by the way.

Two Asus Boards [and if you dont like either of these, thats completely fine as that Taichi, for $210 is a decent deal too, you can certainly get that]

I just completed the build in my signature this past weekend. It's similar to what you want to accomplish. Some thoughts:

1) The ASUS Prime x470-Pro is the best motherboard I've ever owned. Amazed at the build quality, features, as well as sound quality (I work on the machine and listen to music a lot so sound quality was a big factor).
2) There really isn't any reason to overlock the Ryzen chips. Turn on Precision Boost Overdrive and let AMD's AI overclock the chip when needed. It works very well. I peak at 4.2Ghz with the stock Wraith cooler.
3) The fan manager on the motherboard does a great job of speeding up the fans when things get hot and slowing them down when idle. My system is very quiet with two stock case fans and the stock cpu cooler. This probably isn't anything new......it was just new to me and the impact was really surprising.
