@GullyFoyle

Biostar doesn't seem to be getting a lot of press lately. Let me see what I can dig up on that one:

BIOSTAR:
RACING X570GT8 12-phase[8+4]*| IR3555 60A, PWM: IR35201(8-phase), PCB: 6-Layer, 10K caps

Looks decent enough. Not as strong as the Asus Impact per se, but still decent if the price is right. Definitely suitable for 8c chips, and you can probably get away with a 3900x on there as well.

I have just started wrapping my head around how fast my 400mb cable is! Geez my ISP only offers currently 960mb through fiber and its atm a $200 installation. I have to know where in the heck i can find any kind of a connection that can technically offer 24x the speed of my 400mb. My one and only Wifi adapter taps out currently at 260mbps and well since then i have hard wired in for the full 400mb.

Beautiful motherboard still. I just find the speeds insane as far as support goes. Could be that i haven't kept up on the latest top of the line ISP offerings but dang i find that motherboards lan even kind of overkill.

Don't smack me if this has already been asked, but will PCI gen 3 peripherals still work on 570 motherboards?
No way am I paying $500 for an SSD.

The X570 motherboards are now listed at newegg. The 3900X is out of stock already.

Gonna need to get the 3900x elsewhere, apparently. At least the boards are still available. The Gigabyte x570 Xtreme is more expensive that initially announced by Gigabyte which is seriously disappointing. Not worth getting, really, unless you must have an integrated 10Gig nic.

I’m still really confused about memory support when 4 dims are used. Browsed Asus and nothing was listed, browsed ASRock and it was very vague.

Browsing on the mobile site so maybe that’s my problem.

I think the main issue is how the motherboards are using Daisy chain and not something like t topology. More than 2 sticks results in latency for the other sticks.

Tom's hardware has a graph on page 1 or 2 showing the speeds allowed if you use 2 or 4 DIMM's and if it is rank 1 or 2. If i remember right the first two gen Ryzen's did not work in the fastest speed if you used rank 2 memory and these 3rd gen CPU's do still do 3200 DDR4 but Tom's did not say anything about it. In fact there is a lot of gaps in Tom's review. I feel like they rushed the review. Probably has to do with all the new CPU's and GPU's arriving on the scene.

Anyone seen anything out there for the Phantom Gaming 4 ITX TB3? Wondering if I am going to have to have 90% of a computer again waiting for that board to launch later.

Are the next chips by AMD going to be AM4 also? Thinking of buying an X570 board.

Jury is out on that question. Current support will end 2020 but is that at the beginning or end of 2020 is the question.
I'm not an expert but I'm going to guess this is the last of AM4.

I've picked up an Aorus X570 Elite, and at first glance, the PCB has the "brittle" look that is often seen on a budget board. My guess is the board is a 4-layer PCB. I was hoping for a 6-layer for a board that costs $200.

Edit: Definitely a 4-layer board, reading between the lines of Gigabyte marketing talk.

https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/AORUS-Gaming

If you read feature highlights there are phrases like "2X Copper PCIe 4.0 Mid-Loss Ready PCB," "8 Layer PCIe 4.0 Ready Low-Loss PCB," or just "2X Copper PCB." Since they are proud to remind you of 8-layer PCBs, the inference must be:

Low-Loss PCB: 8-layer (X570 Extreme, X570 I Pro WiFi)
Mid-Loss PCB: 6-layer (X570 Master, X570 Ultra, X570 Pro)
2X Copper PCB: 4-layer (everything else)

I have no idea what "2X Copper" means. (twice of what, exactly?) They used to advertise 2.0 oz copper but somehow that has morphed into 2X copper.

Well when they normally use 1 ounce 2 ounces are 2X
I hate all the shenanigans tech companies pull.

I share your disappointment. If you look at the MSI lineup, everything below the Ace is 4-layer.

Are you planning on running any PCIe 4.0 devices on your new system, by any chance? Perhaps you can serve the cause of science.

Oof, I was hoping the next Ryzen chips would work on AM4. That really gives me something to think about with making a purchase decision.

I'm curious if the bios will offer the ability to change from PCIe 4.0 to PCIe 3.0

I think next batch will still be AM4... Next socket change will only come with DDR5.

I was really lookin at the Gigabyte X570 AORUS Motherboard. does that plastic around the pci slots trap hot air and raise board temps?
