Guys hello..

I.ve finally got my Gigabyte X800 Pro couple with ASUS and AMD64 3000.

I am very concerned about my Gigabyte X800.

Here are the scary problems i am facing.

First of all, i ordered X800 from Gigabyte than ATI itself becasue i thought my Gigabyte would give better cooling, but it seems that besides a few LED's there is no better cooling.

THE PROBLEMS :

1. As soon as i start my PC, the X800 Pro runs at full speed with full Bright LED's, but only after about 3 seconds into the Boot-up, the fan goes very slow and the LED's go dimer as well.

2. After installing V-Tuner 2/Vtuner 1 as an overclocking utility, the software only shows 158 for the core and 298 Mhz for the RAM. WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING.

3. After maxing out FARCRY, i played it for just five minutes and sometimes the ground would get to be artifacts and when i would touch the Bare RAMS on my card, i cant touch them for long, may be only 6 Seconds, the same goes for the Copper Cooler.

Reminding you that the X800 is from Gigabyte.

Please guys help me, please tell me why the fan goes slow after a few seconds in the boot-up and it doesnt seem to run faster even after using FARCRY or 3DMARK 01.

Secondly is it true that my card comes Underclocked.

Thierdly, it runs very hot and i dont have Hardware monitoring feature, what should i do.

First Download ATI tool here and report back on clock speeds and temps:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=725

Also, what kind of case is it in? How many fans?

I would also encourage you to dowload omega's latest drivers at www.omegadrivers.net and download drivercleaner 3 from www.driverheaven.net uninstall your current drivers and reboot into safe mode. Run drivercleaner and then reboot and install the omega drivers (if you do this it also comes with ATI tool so you don't have to download it seperately)

I have a TT WinGo Casing, dont worry about the casing cause these are initail periods and i am usually playing my PC with the Side Completely open and there is alot of Air flow.

My problem is serious, i cant touch the Ram Modules for more than 7 seconds and i dont know why i get so much underclocked Speed through V-Tuner and also the fan is running slow and so do the LED's run Dimmer.

I'll download the softwares you mentioend but i guess that wont hepl in bursting my Fan Speed for the X800 Pro

What is your Power Supply rated for, and how many peripherals do you have in your computer?
Like fans, hard drives, optical drives, raid cards, sound cards. If the fan on the X800 spins fast for only 3 seconds and then slows down, it sounds like something is stealing away its power as things "spool" up.
Start unplugging things that you dont need like fans and such temporarily. Try to give the X800 its own separate power line from the PSU.

that's not a problem, that's normal.

download a good utility. try atitool mentioned previously.

the doesn't sound right.. report temps shown on atitool. also. it's possiblye your card simply does not overclock (you should always test/break in @ stock speeds before trying to push the card.

make sure drivers installed properly, and make sure the card will run at stock speeds. if it doesn't, you may have to rma the card, but again, make sure it runs @ stock before overclocking.

Reminding you that the X800 is from Gigabyte.

it's just a reference card w/ lights.

Thierdly, it runs very hot and i dont have Hardware monitoring feature, what should i do.

they all have hardware monitoring. you can read the temp w/ newer cats using the overdrive feature, or by downloading/installing atitool. you can also verify your speeds with atitool.

The biggest thing that sticks out in my mind is your power supply.
With an Athlon 64 and that kind of video card, you're gonna need a very
powerful power supply, and a good name brand one, not some generic 400watt or higher
that come with some cases today. Let us know the make and model of your
current one.

good luck

I agree it sounds like your system is not getting enough juice. Those generic 400w PSU that come with cases probably put out around 200watts when they are running at normal PC temps.

good, i didnt feel like spending money on juice

nvfx, does your card's hsf cover your ram sinks? I was thinking about that and how hard it would be to keep stock hs/f and put ram sinks on.

Does anybody know how good these fans are? Or are they just like the past ati fans... garbage (at least with my experience)

I really dont think it would be the card either. Possibly the psu, but not definately. Also, ATI cards run hotter than NV cards with stock cooling. I dont know your temps, but just something to keep in mind

Out of curiosity, did you plug in the molex power connector so the card can get the extra power it needs?

First, I don't recomment OCing your card. Second, artifacts are signs of the card being pushed too far. Slow it down. Too hot? Then get watercooling, or slow it down. I have a 5900 Ultra in my box, and I have oced it quite far just for fun, and I have never pushed it till it as that hot.

In response to the Molex question, it wouldnt have run had you not plugged it in.

Some cards can run without the Molex connection, strangly but anyway plug it in if it ain't in and I assure you that your PSU is not good enough, I have a Antec 430 WATT true power Supply and my System (see rig specs below) seems to be having troubles with that, go get ya self atleast a 480 TPSU from Antec
