So are there any comparisons of the X800's vs the 6800's with the gold version of Doom3? I know it hasn't been gold long, but there's gotta be a number of copies floating around in the right circles. Someone do some testing already!

I doubt we'll see any benchmarks right away. Just wait until the launch and then you'll get plenty of them Patience is a virtue

What the hell is that supposed to mean?

As for benchies, I'd like to see some pre-release, as like you said, there are copies floating around in the right circles. But, I doubt we'll see anything we can actually trust till the game is released.

As always as stock answer here..."it is likely to run better on the 6800 as OpenGL code tends to". I guess the difference will not be that great though.

In the new issue of PC Gamer (which reviews Doom 3, rating it 94% and game of the year so far), Tim Willits says that the 6800 is marginally faster, but that the differences between the cards are inconsequential.

Apparently http://www2.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NjQy claims that NVidia blows Doom3 out of the water, but again. We're looking at an OpenGL game running on a card optimized for OpenGL applications. How many games on the market really RUN on OpenGL and how many ATI cards and games run better on Direct3D?

I mean, i'm not biased towards either card, but...is it really worth it to buy an NVidia card for ONE GAME?

Anyways. I'm upgrading soon as i see proof, so far, my Sapphire 9600XT 256MB will have to do the trick.

For one game huh. Nvidia beats ATi on more than one game lol.

No offense, just didn't want you getting flamed or anything

In my opinion? No. In other pplz? Yes if its the game they want. I personally buy based on avg bang for ur buck and dont care about the frames of any perticular game, but more so games as a whole.
