If you dont like refurbs:

149.00 with mail in rebate. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! unbelievable. Quick buy them up and then sell them in 2 months(or now) as they are going for 225 on the forums. The funny thing is I really have the money to do it but for some reason, since i have my 6800GS, I just dont feel the need to.

I just got a used 6800GS for 175. I think I might just want to upgrade. WOW. Even though my 6800 does 521/1.19 on stock, a gto2 for 165 wow.

I don't even know why he's suggesting the refurbs. The new one is only $4 more and $16 less after rebate. You'd have to be crazy to buy the refurb.

If its a GTO^2 it unlocks. They ALL unlock. That said, the new card is the better deal, and a hot one at that. OP - it isn't worth $225 any longer, not with 7800GTs (overclocked by eVGA at that) going for $250, but it certainly is the next best deal IMHO. I would snap one up quick if you don't care about SM3.0 and have a fairly low resolution display.

Not to thread cap but I've been reading that blue gto2s are only rebadged X800XLs(R430) which suck at overclocking...

Newegg refurbs on video cards usually have terrible prices. It isn't uncommon for them to cost more then a new part. And you'd have to do better then $5 less for me to get interested in buying what is probably a poor overclocking part with some missing accessories and an increased likelyhood of DOA. If I have to return it, I'm already coming out behind.

Not really trying to threadcrap...just expressing my displeasure with the whole refurb business. It doesn't seem like there's many deals there.

Yeah, I noticed that after i posted it. The new one is definitly better. I might buy it and sit on it until the supply dwindles then sell it for a good but profitable price.

Yeah, the new one is definately a good deal. I'm thinking about getting one myself. They all unlock I'm told...but is there any truth to the statement about the "blue cards" not overclocking well? I'd like to see a discussion on that because I haven't heard anything one way or the other.

I've read a few lengthy posts where the blue versions without the power connector have only R430 cores and 2 ns memory, and therefore don't overclock to X850XT/PE speeds.

The best bet out there is the red version with dual DVI and VIVO which comes pre-unlocked, R480 core, and 1.6 ns memory.

Keep in mind I am not 100% on this, but I think you are maybe confusing the GTO2 and the regular GTO. There are several fifferent GTOs, and they have different cores and memory speeds, as well as some having the power connector and others not. This was a pretty big issue when the connect3d GTO was unlocking most all of the time and the GTO2 had shot up in price. All that is less an issue since the GTO2 has come back down in price and the regular GTOs are a less certain unlock. Since Sapphire is the only maker of the GTO2 I think they are all the same, I don't know why one company would use two board colors on the same product.

I'm not confusing GTO2 with GTO (to the other poster).

Here are two links:

And here's a link to one for sale at ncix.com. Take a good look at the photo of it: blue PCB and NO power connector--not good signs!

The correct red PCB version that comes pre-unlocked to 16 pipelines, etc., is a different version:
