Zim, you probably already know this but in case you don't... in ATITool you can click on Settings, then select Startup from the drop down menu. There you can have ATITool startup during windows bootup, set your card to whatever speed you want, then exit automatically once your card is set. No user input required.

Got my retail lite there as well. Came in today, successfully unlocked the 4 extra pipes and I'm testing the memory oc now.

Yes I did know that, thanks. I managed to use RaBiT by setting the core to the maximum (506), saving it, then reopening it again and increasing the core to 540. I may knock the memory back from 600 to 590. It maxes out at 606, and 600 might be just a little tight. I noticed the screen going wierd while Windows was re-installing the drivers, although it has been fine after the first reboot.

meh my card only runs at 530ish 610. Using ATi Silencer 5 Rev.2. i guess it was a step up from my 9800 pro, but i kinda hoped the core would go higher im running it at 520/600 atm. anyhow my card came with 16 pipelines already enabled and the core and mem clocks were at 500/500 default. did the flash anyway and yeah went smooth

Disruptive,

I'm curious, are you using stock cooling?

I'm using stock cooling and I'm running my card at 550/570. Anything above that and I get artifacts.

That is a monster overclock...

Im running at 540/710 on stock. Temps reach 70-75 on full so I might just step it down a notch. What do you guys think?

He's showing his mem clock already doubled for DDR2. He means 520/560. That's pretty average compared to everyone else. Your 710 mem clock, however, is way above average. Are you getting 540/710 without artifacts? If so, that is by far the highest I have seen.

So, now that the hype is dying down, will the greedy e-tailers ever bring their prices back down to earth? Is anyone really paying $250 for these when 7800 GT's can be found for $310 after rebate?

Oops sorry for that! Btw it was a typo, i didn't mean 540/710 hahaha I meant 540/610!!! lol sorry for that...I guess thats slightly above average as well huh? I started getting some artifacts around 614 ish I might just go back down to 600 anyways

ok, i'm just wondering what the safe kind of temperatures for an OCed card is, cos i don't wanna push it too far an make it blow... also, when i ran ATI Tool to find the best core speed, my PC crashed before it found it, and on restart it told me a figure, but is it supposed to cause my pc to crash or what?!! arg!!!

Got mine last week. I'm in Canada but got it in the U.S.. it was already unlocked and pretested to run stable at PE speeds. Hook this up with either ATI Tool or ATI Tray Tools and your off to the races. This card flys!!!

just curious but how are you guys running cod2 with this card? in benches, i only see them with no aa/af or 4xaa/8xaff...no 2xaa. frame rate seems to go down the hill right after 1024?

Also, when my card replaced (i accidentally pulled a resistor off it! LOL), it was replaced with the VIVO version and came pre-unlocked.... i was going to try unlocking and realised i had re-named the BIOS file wrongly, but whenn i got back to windows to re-name it i decided to check the ATI Tool again, and it said i had 16 active Pipes, even thought I hadn't flashed the BIOS on the card yet... how mint is that?! but anyway, still waiting on word whether or not the temps i'm getting are dangerous at all?

yeah, that temp is fine, keep it under 80C and you'll have no issue. also a question of my own, my max oc seems to be 520/560, that seems a little low for the core. i thought that a card will artifact before it reaches absolute max...but for me, the core and the memory if i raise it a bit higher, it'll just freeze and turn off the monitor...no artifacting. does different bios affect the amount of oc?

Not saying the gto2 is a bad card. Its great, but depending on what you play, the 6800gs(when oc'ed which is ver easy to do) can beat the x850 PE in certain situations.

...the X850XT kills the 6800GS in almost every game (cept one or two) at high res....kills it much more with AA/AF on

yeah...it beats it when the system is cpu limited...aka when aa/af isn't used and in older benchmarks like 3dmark2001....pretty much everywhere else the x850xt wins out.
