Yup... I saw it on PriceWatch as well. I don't think I will buy it. Especially since it is OEM.... They need to drop it $200. I want it for ~$250. Eh? I am waiting until my tax return comes anyway. I think that the second week in February is the target date for shipping the bulk of these cards. We'll see. Anyone going to buy this one just to say they did?

Thats a crazy price to pay for it. I was going to wait for that card and build my new system around PCI Express, but with all the Nforce4 and ATI paper lauchs and delays, I got tired of waiting. I ordered a Sapphire (ATI) X800XT AGP Retail from Allstarshop on Monday and it was only $485.

X800XT AGP ($485) > overpriced less perfomer X800XL PCIE ($450)

Good luck on that price drop. Since the introduction of the 6800's and the X800's (back in May) everyone has been talking about a mythical price drop, but it has yet to happen. I bought a 6800GT back in June for $407 from newegg, that same card still goes for $388. That's a pretty minor drop in price then you consider the length of time this card has been out. IMO, the transition to PCIe 16x will keep the cost of any new cards up for quite a while. I would expect that the only cards dropping in price any time soon will be AGP cards.

ATi is fast becoming the new Bitboys. This is getting ridiculous. Nvidia was bad last year as well, but at least they shipped SOMETHING....

mind enlighten rest of anand as to where?

ATI.com , i don't know where to get the coupon code though.

The deal ended later that same day. I believe it was talked about in the video forum as well as the Hot deals section. Some were getting another 10% to stack, too. Talk about some good deals.

Yeah, thats all most people who ordered will do is talk about this deal. For a long time. With nothing to show for it. Sure, they'll get their money back, but how satisfying is that? When X800XL becomes available en masse, THATs the time to buy. Not when the card doesn't even exist yet. If ATI fulfills all of the orders that they have taken in at that price, that would be a monumental acheivment for them.

I second the BitBoys reference. When I can walk in my local BestBuy and not see a preorder box, but an actual card on the shelf, thats when ATI gets my money. And only if it's not a nickel over 300.00 which was ATI's quoted MSRP. I dread the flood of disappointment threads.

I don't really think it's a nVida vs. ATi thing. The whole thing is pretty sad really. Too bad that there isn't a really sharp third player in this industry because they would have had a serious shot in 2004. Had the Volari been a sweet chip, things could be very different right now. nVidia and ATi have killed off all the competition, so we are left with this for the time being.

Your are so fos. Ati is never getting your money.
quote keysplayr2003 "It's all hype anyway. I'll always be an Intel/Nvidia user. My 2 cents." in this
thread. Your constant hyping of Nvidia is pathetic.

The x800xl was announced well after the 6800 ultra pci sli and neither are very available -- so both companies are behind, but ATI does have upper end pci e cards out there and Nvidia has upper end agp cards out there, so pick your poison.

You're right, Ill just post a thread with a $900 price tag of a PCI-E Ultra.

Hmmmm.

I wasn't expecting any ATI vs nVidia stuff here, just reporting my first siting of a X800XL. Thought it was amusing to see the $450 price tag after all the "Get a X800XL for $300!" posts.

Only one thing is sure- my X800XT PE was a better buy (even used) for $450 than a X800XL for $450..

comon rollo, face it, most threads here do degenerate into ati v.s. nv sooner or later.
cant people just learn to buy whichever and just let it be? stop pushing your brand preference on someone else.

I don't get your response. Are you saying we should have no threads because they'll just degenerate into ATI vs nVidia, or that people should stop turning them into ATI vs nVidia?

no im saying it is inevitable. you should expect it to happen. there will always be competition between the fans of both companies.

I got my X800XT PE a month ago and now I'm kind of upset, It's a wonderful card but I want dual DVI and it doesn't have that. I knew that when I was buying it but I was available to buy on newegg the minute it went in stock for $489 and I couldn't back out(even at this time it's a great price for PE). ATi's were always not available but 6800's were always in stock.... So even after readings reviews for months I decided to go with the x800xt pe but when I finally hooked up my first LCD I realized I want dual dvi for 100% and I can't have... The dummest part of all that x800 chipset supports dual dvi and like Asus and some other company made a dual dvi x800s but only in pci-e.. I don't like this whole pci-e rush as I'm a hardcore Intel fan and getting the 925 or even 915 chipset was a waste of money as I didn't see any real performance gains versus 875 or even the 865, why pay double for RAM and mobo?

As for the x800xl it's a shame to see it at this price as it's supposed to be the x800xt at a cheaper price, slower core..... By the time the price drops to what it is supposed to be the x800xt probably will be ~$400... Since the x850 and x850PE was announced at almost x800xt prices.... WITH DUAL DVI :fejlkdshfkjsdhfjksdhfkjsdhfkj... But only pci-e for now, AGP a few month later. I remember reading that when my card got shipped to me...

It's totally amazing that Rollo never mentioned the FANTASTIC deals they're also having on 6800 Ultras!

http://www.allstarshop.com/sho...VF9H08RCXJGJ71X99X0R89

They're only charging $749 for a card with an MSRP of $499. That's a savings of -$250!! Who WOULDN'T want one at that price?

Hmmmm.
