ATi can take it's x800XL and shove it. I've gotten impatient and they just lost a solid $380 that I'm spending on an nVidia card.

Sorry, ATi. I love the Radeon 9500 Pro you've 'given' me, but there is no loyalty as far as my money goes. Whoo, Gainward 6800GT 400/1100!

Hmmm....does anyone have a clue when these will actually ship? The only piece left to my new machine is the video card, and I was planning to order the Leadtek PCI-E 6600GT today. Do I wait, or just get the 6600 and save some cash in the process?

So anyone know this coupon code?

Also, I wish I knew when ATI is going to ship it so I have an idea when I'll be building my system.

Thanks a million

Ditto on where to find this coupon code. For $245, I'll put in a preorder, especially if this completes anywhere near the 6800GT.

ATI is in an interesting business lately, they sell promises for cards. I hope this doesn't turn out to be another CDW/Dell/Etc. deal where they collect preorders and the card mysteriously never get shipped.

That being said, an X800XL for $245 dollars is an excellent deal- hope you get it.

LOL, and I'll just laugh, when I get a $250 card (ordered in time for 20% off coupon) that can match your $380 card toe-to-toe.

Patience is virtue, young grass hoppper.

Why would you laugh at somebody else's misfortune?
This is a scam guys. There is noooooo wayyyyy ATI can sell a 16 pipe 256MB GDDR3 card for 250.00 and make money. I don't even think they can do it for 300 for very long. This is just to hook you and get you in. Shortly, you will probably receive an option from ATI. Either cancel your order, say the price was a mistake. Or cough up an extra 100 bucks to actually "hold" a card for you. They are shady bastards people so make no mistake and watch out!!!. As long as they are able to refund your 250.00, they aren't breaking any laws that I know of and you can't do a thing about it.

The receipt did state the following: "This receipt of order does not signify our acceptance of your order, nor does it constitute confirmation of our offer to sell."

If they attempt any of that crap I am going straight to nVidia. Hopefully the 6800GT will have dropped in price by then to compete with the 800XL.

My confirmation did not say "This receipt of order does not signify our acceptance of your order, nor does it constitute confirmation of our offer to sell."
All it said was
"Thank you for your order at ShopATI. This is to confirm we have received
your Pre-Order request

Once the product is available, we will ship your order per your
instructions. If you are paying by credit card, you will not be charged
until the item is shipped.

You will receive a confirmation email when the items(s) have been released
for processing. If you would like to change your order or cancel this
order please contact ShopATI?s Customer Service Team by either replying to
this email at support@store.com or call us at 1-888-974-6728, 6:00am -
6:00pm PST Monday - Saturday.

We want your experience at ShopATI to be a good one. We sincerely
apologize for the delay in fulfilling your order."

Go to shop.ati.com and click on 'order history.'

Sign in and then click on 'view receipt' of your 800XL purchase.

That is what mine says right under "Click Here for a printer friendly version," perhaps my result is an anomaly.

I guess if they cancel the orders, they'll have hundreds, if not thousands of orders to cancel. I'm sure they're in a particularly wierd situation, a) allow orders to go through, or b) cancel all presales that have discounts. I'm sure if they go with B, most people will just jump over to Nvidia. I'm sure if ATI has a card that runs at a certain speed for $300 then nVidia will have to follow.

Ahh, points you and I can definitely agree on. There's at least one person in the HardForums I believe who is still waiting for the X800XT-PE they pre-ordered directly from ATI six months ago. I'd love to see this work out and ATI release X800XL cards by the end of this month...but then I'd have love to have seen them have X850XT cards available at the time they promised, and it didn't happen. And the dirty little secret of it all is that if they get your money now, it makes their profits look good, which makes the company look good to people who buy stock and to their existing shareholders. First quarter earnings will look awfully good from all those pre-orders.

The only way to avoid this is for everyone to not bite the bullet and say "It may cost more, but I'm not ordering a card until they can prove they can deliver it to me". You won't get the deal, but ATI will get the message if nobody does it. I don't see that happening, but a deal on something you can't get isn't really a deal at all, is it?

Why bother launching the card if you can't sell any? It just makes absolutely no sense to me. Sure, Half-Life 2 was delayed forever, but at least they didn't let the release date come and not ship any copies. I don't think any card maker should do a paper launch until they have a sizeable inventory to ship.

They dont have our money yet. They will not charge any credit cards until the video cards are shipped.

Going by their track record on other 16 pipe cards. 16 pipe card in general will be worth 250 bucks. The only difference is you had to wait months to get it while he has been using his and enjoying it.

Patience is a virture, but time destroys good deals in the computer industry.

Why bother launching the card if you can't sell any? It just makes absolutely no sense to me.

Keeps you from going to their competitor.

This is flase advertising and if ATI decides to drop this deal somebody should sue them. It is a bait and switch in the hope of keeping you from buying Nvidia cards.

Hope the deal works out for you. But they havent even been able to get a good supply of the X800Xts nearly 8 months after launch. Doubt this will be much different.

Loose translation: Should something go wrong that CF's our ability to provide people with cards, we can cancel this at any time without being accused of false advertising, bait-and-switch, or any other tactics.

I hate to sound cynical, I've just seen this kind of language before. I hope everyone gets their card. If not, I hope the above jargon is prohibited by law in at least some states, and that they will be required to provide the card to those who preordered, for the specified price.

EDIT: I note in a previous post of yours, ATI's message: "Thank you for your order at ShopATI. This is to confirm we have received your Pre-Order request. Notice they don't call it an order or a sale, but a "Pre-Order request", as if you were asking for information, or requesting the privilege of ordering a card. Personally, I'm tired of getting sick of all the legal B.S.. Can't people just ship cards when they say they will, or not announce them until they're truly available?

I jumped in on this deal, supposedly the 20% off is dead, but there is a 10% that is still working. Looks like it'll be a few weeks before I get it but that doesn't matter to me as I'll still need to get a new motherboard and CPU to complete my computer upgrades, that and the game I'm itching to play isn't out yet.
