Ok here are the specs
p4 3.0ghz OC'ed 3.3 880fsb (northwood, 478 socket)
2x512 GEIL dual channel ram pc3200
2x36gb Raptors Raid0
x850xt AGP 8x
on a p4p800-e deluxe motherboard
monitors LCD1765 and 17" trintron
---------------------------------------------
so i saw the results for the bf2 benching yesterday, and my card looks like it can get about 69fps with 1280x1024 4xAF, now when i did this i could tell something was a little off-so I DLed fraps, and I was getting 30 or so FPS, mostly below. Virus Scanner is OFF. I also turned off the ATI AI feature as well.

Now anyone give me suggestions as to what is going on here? I also played single player as well. Its not that its not playable, just odd its so offbase from the results-I understand i have a dif cpu, but is there anything I need to do here? Suggestions? Personal experience? Anyone running the same specs?

If your are using fraps that the problem. Write in the game console "renderer.drawfps 1"
Also 2Gb of RAM is the way to go with that crappy coded game.

Fraps doesn't work ok in some games, this is one of those. No problems with OC, at least that I'm aware of

fraps has problems with some games. use console commands for BF2. EA has some crappy net coders so 1 gb is barely enough to run smoothly at beginning of rounds anyways.

is anyone running similar specs? what kind of performance are you getting?
it just strikes me as odd because hl2 with everything maxed, AA & AF looks really, really good, along with doom3-
I know bf2 is buggy but...so 2gb of ram huh?

Ultra psu's are complete garbage. I've had two fail on me. Buy a psu from a good brand such as antec, enermax, seasonic, ocz, fortron, and zippy.

would the PSU do that to my game performance??? With my ASUS probe, voltages appear to be consistant.

A psu might do that to game performance because it's not able to give the card enough juice to run at it's full potential. Also, I'd take other's advice and pop another gig of ram in that thing. At higher resolutions 2 gb of ram does more to help performance than anything else would.

Mine is not a recommendation, since I tryed BF2 and saw that it was so poorly coded I decided not to play it again. That game is crap and expending the money for 2Gb for that stupid game is pointless IMO.

yup...dont upgrade your ram just because of one game. 1gb ram is good enough for most games.

ugh
well I do a lot of video editing/photos anyways with dual monitors so i have a lot running, 2gb wont hurt me, i already ordered some this week to match my current pair lol. well see how it goes...just bugs me cause graphically i think hl2 is so much cleaner...and it runs no lie about 100 times better than bf2....frustration

ut2k4 still pwns so i might just play that instead lol of bfv which has gotten better...
x850xt....still a damn good card for those games!

I run my game with 1Gb Ram with an X850XT-PE

Everything is on Ultra High, 4xaa 1024x768 and i get an average of around 60FPS with the peaks at about 75 and lows of about 45.

The only stutters i get is when my damn ISP decides it cant handle the bandwidth and forgets to actually supply me my ADSL connection for a few seconds.

what are your specs? Thats the performance I was expecting...maybe something to do with the forced resolution of 1280x1024????? Cause you cant pick that option in game....

it's amount of ram. you're runnig out of ram so bf2 has to swap and that causes your fps to drop dramatically. BF2 can easily use over 1gb of ram on it's own at higher resolutions. add 220-280mb fro Windows and your anti-virus suite and you can see how much it has to page and swap(bf2 was reported to be my a user to use 880mb ram(he had a 1gb ram setup too) and a 1.2GB page file after a couple games). normally windows uses around only a couple hundred mb page file so you can see how much memory BF2 uses.

Are you using both monitors at the same time? Only have one enabled if you are, thats been known to slay fps.

Yep more ram, l run fraps and media player and record hi speed chopper and plane flight, l did it in bfv too, fraps records at under 35 fps in bf2 and under 45 in bfv, you get sometimes lag spikes depending on the connection and server, and your own pc , l run 1024x768 res, bit lighting off shadows off, desktop is set to custom , performance side, and in bf 2 l dont have to many problems , bf 2 s biggest problem is its coding, and if your pc aint up to scratch as soon as a lag spike hits , your pc feels it bad, l run an amd fx 55 , 2 gig pc3200 ram, x800xt vid, sata hd x2 at 80 gig, 1 direct for fraps direct record so defraging is 1 disc and doesnt effect system performance, page file and windows and all programs on other disc, fraps hard disc is page file free, mine runs sweet, awsome in bfv sweet in bf2, half life 2 is the one that bogs me down most as l have the effects all at max and it can chopp chop down to 8fps while frapping under megger load, its wickid .......

Thats really odd. Cause I have hl2 maxed out, (8x AF, 8xAA) and it runs great, and im pretty anal about fps.

The 2nd monitor thing--I tried that, not too much of a dif but i think il do that now out of habit when playing bf2...weird but i dont get a dif benchmarking with another vid card.

Well, 69 fps seems legit for that setup. Personally, I'd recommend running everything on high, EXCEPT textures, which you should set to "medium". Looks just as good as high, and runs smoother... for me anyway.
