Something is definately wrong - you should be scoring around 6000 in 3D Mark 05. I have a Mobile Athlon XP+ 2600 rig (oc'ed to ~2.6 GHz) and a Radeon X850 XT and I score in the low 6000s.

I believe that's the Intel 865PE chipset. You can find Intel drivers here:

Are your chipset AGP drivers installed? Likely source of the problem. Run 3Dmark05 to determine if your score is appropriate (should be well over 6000 with performance settings, if everything setup correctly). If your score is lower, something is not right - try re-installing AGP drivers, directX, and ATI catalyst drivers (in that order).

wow, amazing. i got 3147 at 3Dmark05, and that's at 1024x768 with no AA.
im a bit depressed i think.

oh by the way, ive never seen it like that before, but how would i know if my agp drivers are ok? can i find some easily or do they have to match my motherboard (which is an amazing asus p4p800-e by the way hihi)?

Hey selfbuilt, the owner of this thread wouldn't need to DL those drivers if he has a third party video card... those drivers are only for INTEGRATED gpu's...
If you need to update your chipset, you can try looking for the files on Intel's website that improve the functionality of things such as the USB and AGP controllers.
boy it feels good to be back... haven't posted on the forum in a long time.

My X800 GTO @ X850 XTPE speeds destroys FEAR, COD2, AOE3, Quake 4, BF2, and CS:S. I usually run everything at 1280x1024 or 1024x768 with 4xAA and 8xAF, med to high settings.
thats what im annoyed ahah.
hey thanks for all the replies
im currently downloading 3dmark05 to check it out and ill remove and reinstall the drivers, just to be sure.

Your problem is memory. I do not care if you have a 7800GTX SLI, you cannot run neither FEAR nor BF2 at maximum settings playably with 1GB of ram.
Try playing Half Life 2 at 1280 max with aa/af and it should be quite smooth and good looking. If you want your gpu to be able to flex it's graphical muscle, then you need to invest in some more memory.

yes im thinking about formating completely. but i did it 2 days ago, so there's no way there's any trace of nvidia drivers or anything. but i have nothing to lose
but would drivers make such troubles in performance?
because it goes so bad, there has to be something in my computer.
the card was brand new when i bought it. in the beginning i too hoped that it maybe was broken or too used ahah. the computer and everything detects it as being a radeon x850xt agp 256mb.
dammit
aahahah, funny somehow

PSU is not strong enough and it's not feeding enough juice to the card. Go to your local electronics store and get ANTEC 550W supply or even ANTEC or Fortron or Seasonic >450W psus.

Which Pentium 4 do you have: P4 3.06 Ghz (533 FSB, Rambus RAM or DDR) or P4 3.0C (Northwood)? What speed is your RAM (PC3200?)?
It sounds like you don't have the right chipset drivers or something because your scores are too low.

The page I linked to has what he needs to know - it is the general Intel page for that chipset, and has a clearly marked link about "AGP driver information" that explains what he must do to make sure the AGP GART driver is properly setup.
This remains the most likely explanation for his considerably substandard performance - the AGP GART driver is likely not working correctly.
