x87 SandForce Compatibility Issue?

In [ H ]ardOCP's review of the ASUS Z87-A, they ran into problems with SandForce 1200 and 1600 based SSDs :

I also noticed odd behavior using a 34nm 120GB Vertex 2 with the MSI Z87-GD65, but it only happened twice and doesn't seem to have repeated since.

Looking like there will be BIOS fixes though, and I don't expect it to be a big deal if its only the older generation that fewer people have and it still "works" in practical terms. What kind of odd behavior did you experience?

Drive disappeared once and the MBR/system files got corrupted once.
I know the tendency is just say "It's just SandForce", but I've used this drive on a myriad of other motherboards (P965, 785G, X58, Z68, H77, Z77, etc.) with nary a hiccup.

Edit : Just happened again when I got back from work and started molesting playing with the 4770K on the test bench. Drive up and disappeared in the middle of a Prime95 session and upon reboot, *poof*

The only reason I have an OCZ Agility 3 in my system is because it wouldn't work with my mum's Z77 system that I built. It kept hanging the entire system, corrupting files etc. Had to buy a Samsung SSD for her, which worked flawlessly.

The Agility3 had serious issues with my AMD system too, but after the latest firmware, it's good enough to keep a few games on. I would never use a SandForce SSD as the OS drive, though.

Never had an issue with that Vertex 2 (been in P965, Z77, H77, Z68, P67, 785G, and a few others) before this.
Swapped it out for a SanDisk Extreme and have been running for the past few hours without incident.

It would be the compatibility issues rather than controllers. Just ensure to keep the controller firmware updated & also SSD manufacturer firmware up to date as well. I think, this issue has been fixed & the new SF-2281 controllers are believed to be faster.

Still haven't gotten around to trying it with the latest Z87-GD65 BIOS (too busy OCing four 4770Ks )
