its only your opinion that the RVE is the best board, to me it is over priced waste of money. ASRock will suit you fine and leave you plenty of cash for Video Cards for SSD upgrades.

The RVE fan club have been blinded by ASUS.

The only AssRock worth buying is there top of the line, only fan boy here is you! I buy the best, when Ass Rock makes a board worth buying I'll jump ship gladly!! You sound angry at Asus IMHO...............

The problem I have with Asus is that their RMA and tech support are pretty awful. There are much more horror stories on the Internet.

A high end Gigabyte, MSI, or Asrock board will probably be comparable in terms of reliability. Get something like the X99 SOC Force, X99 XPower, or X99 OC Formula (all cheaper than the RVE) and you're fine. Search up which boards have bad BIOS. I think SOC Force and XPower are stable; I know the earlier versions had issues though.

The OP said "I want the BEST price is no matter" you want second best enjoy it! Get what you pay for, the RVE will over clock higher time in and time out. Better support as in Bios updates, every company has issue's, go look at the AssRock forum for customer issue, or Gigabyte, or MSI, in the X99 threads and Asus there all buzy with issue's that why they are there. Enjoy your MSI! they do have great customer service I will say that!!

I'm breaking in a new system with the Asrock X99 Extreme4 and couldn't be happier so far..

Using GeIL 16GB 2666, which the board set automatically at rated specs and booted with no issues from day one..

I started using Asrock boards when the 3930K came out and have had virtually no problems that I didn't cause myself with five different boards in four different systems ..

With LGA2011, you have to be super careful with CPU install or you will end up with a bent pin or two..

How is the Gigabyte x99 SOC force? It looks pretty cool to me, from what I have seen. Anyone here have one and have opinions on it?

I consider it unlikely on air or water that a Gigabyte SOC Force or an MSI XPower will clock a bit less than a RVE.

The bigger issue is more likely to be the silicon lottery. I haven't really decided which board I'm planning to get (still waiting for DDR4 prices to drop and for the BIOSes to completely stabilize). I think I'm going to build next spring or summer.

Same here, quite happy with my Extreme4. Very stable and good OC.

Since EVGA isn't paying anyone to promote there boards, there's is just a re-branded X-99(the FTW on the name that must cost a few bucks):whiste:. EVGA is an America company as such they are in it to make money, last board they had worth any coin was the classified X58 which still command top dollar.
I will say AssRock's top board(forget the name)OC is a very good board for overclocking with LN2.

I'm not so sure that is an endorsement for them? Did you buy a new board every time?
My results with the RIVE, mileage may very and this is only under water and phase change, no LN2

What are you not sure about?
What type of brand support would you consider an endorsement?

I have only bought Asrock for my last four builds.. All new boards..

It started with a 3930K almost two years ago..
Before I went with the Asrock with the 3930K, I tried an Asus and Gigabyte; had issues and worked with Newegg to get the Asrock as a replacement..

Because of the success with the 3930k, I subsequently put together three other systems using Asrock boards..

The 5th board was doing fine till I dropped a mug of beer in it.. Shame too, because it was a damn good beer..

I'm sure the RIVE is a good board.. For $200 more than a competing Asrock, it should be..

You sound angry at Asus IMHO...............

Based on your logic I would be angry at Apple also, as they also over charge for hardware that’s not worth it.

I own 2 X99 OC Formula boards due to a shipping mishap 

Overclocks brilliantly and has a much better overall layout than the RVE.

By all means spend your money on the RVE, I really doesn’t bother me as its your money and as they say a “Fool and his money are soon …..”

The choice is interesting in that it is not an X99 board, which is the subject of the thread....

^^ The Supermicro is a C612 board ( the Xeon 'X99' ?) , which is for the E5-V3 2011 .. it would be interesting to know if one could pop an 'X99' processor onto one of these .. also ECC versus non ECC DDR4 memory . If I went with one of these, it would be with one of the Xeon E5s and ECC ..

Check that ( RTFAd!!) .. The board supports both the E5 V3 and the I7 processors, and Non ECC for the I7 . .. definitely adding that to the 'look at' list for a potential build early next year ..

What is the warranty on the Supermicro boards?

Do they have the BIOS tweaks most enthusiasts are looking for?

If you are not going to overclock, just about any mainstream board should be as reliable at a fraction of the cost.

Supermicro Motherboards BIOSes are pretty... OEM. They also have some some new "overclocker" series that have these goodies. You have the X99 based C7X99-OCE and C7X99-OCE-F (This one has IPMI for remote management, but I doubt you need that and have the required infrastructure).
However, their enthusiast Motherboards attempts are pretty dull because they have none of the typical gimmicks that most overclockers wants and are around the same price range that other more recognized brands. Supermicro is best know for their Server and Workstation lines and had quite a reputation for reliabily, at least on stock conditions, which match your "stable that last". I would prefer them to stay on that.
