Xandros - input wanted

I just heard about this today.

It seems pretty cool with the fact that it works with windows machines straight out of the box and everything.

I was just wondering if anyone on here has had any experience working with it.

I just wanted to know if it was worth trying out.

PS: I have tried out other releases of linux...I just wanted to get some info about this one!

I've got it.
Slick install. Good hardware recognition & config. Nice implementation of a KDE desktop. As yet a poor selection of software from their "Xandros Network" download site, but you can install debs & rpms from other places with variable success - in fairness they are calling Xandros Network a "preview" at the moment. The Windows compatibility is for a series of office/productivity type apps, not all Windows software. I installed IE 5.5, which is the version supported, and I was not impressed. It is not nearly a fully functional install. I have not installed MS Office, although I might. The IE thing really turned me off, and nowhere does it say it supports Access, which is the one I need. OpenOffice fulfills all my other needs. One thing that bothered me was the apparent absence of any firewall software, although I know Linux cogniscenti will tell me I can go and get one easily enough.
I consider it an expensive experiment at the moment, and if I were to do this one again I would have tried Lindows. Again, in fairness I applaud the effort, to a point it's really a very good beginning as a Windows desktop replacement, and has the prospect of getting better.

Actually Xandors is considered to be better then Lindows when it comes to the WINE stuff.

Yes, I know that. The Windows compatability is not major for me, I am prepared to keep a Windows OS on one machine. I'm just playing around, and I'm not ready yet to dive into the deep end with Linux. I have five family boxes to maintain and at some point I will have to replace 98 on them, and I need something a lot cheaper than XP, not labor intensive to install, easy to maintain, but only minimal software requirements for most of them.
