When the Xbox One S came out it was a cheap good 4k Blu-ray player. I'm already seeing players around $200 so by the time it's out it won't be a deal in that area anymore.

Its such a retarded name. When someone goes into a store with little info which many do, it's not easy to tell which is the better version. Pro is an easier way to designate its better, X doesn't.

I feel sometimes that using X in product names is suppose to have some underlying psychological link to Gen X adults that have money to buy this stuff. MS has also gone Xbox -> 360 -> 1 -> S -> X so they are all over the place. Sony at least increments the number and then added the Pro designation. Pretty straight forward.

X marks the spot. Hidden treasure. Maybe...

I agree the name sucks. How about Xbox Arnora?

Wow the Bethesda presentation is about 10x worse than the XBox One X presentation. Just what I wanted, Skyrim and Fallout 4 with microtransactions added. And they're advertising this at E3? smh

Wolfenstein II looks freaking amazing, by far the best thing I have seen so far at E3. Plus it should run great on even lower end hardware since it seems to be on Doom's engine. And it launches in October. I should have known better than to doubt Bethesda.

Lol now I want to watch the presentations just to laugh at them adding microtransactions! Will watch when I get home.

Is that all Fallout VR is?

I didn't think M$ cared about their user base... Forza Horizon 3 is on PC now so that leaves Halo 5 (mediocre at best) and not much else. I don't see their plan with demoing more powerful hardware other than to simply do it just because.

PS4 has HZD, Last of Us Remastered + Uncharted, The Last Guardian, Bloodborne and the new God of War is due next year. There's also Until Dawn and Gravity Rush for the more obscure tasted.

Whether it is good or bad Microsoft is leveraging Windows Store and Windows 10 in general for gaming. Since GoW their first title games have been play anywhere games. They might leave Halo as console exclusive but first title Xbox games, aren't going to be for Xbox only. There will be a windows version, probably at launch. The XbX is all about being an easy to use livingroom console with great graphics for old and new games and anything new you can swap back and forth between your computer in the office and the xbox in the living room. Playing GoW SP I can continue back and forth between both systems on the same campaign.

Microsoft's products and presentation actually looked pretty good and polished.

Bethesda's on the other hand...
Just no... That was horribly, horribly disappointing.

I couldn't have expected the more opposite to happen, but it did. Go figure.

Yeah I mean I don't think MS' conference was bad by any means. It was done very well and looked good and all that. The only problem is there was absolutely nothing that got me excited at all. Anthem looked neat but it's not like it is exclusive to X1 or anything. Most of the games they showed off can be played elsewhere too. Which is odd considering they came firing out the gates talking about exclusivity.

I also found the "Xbox One Launch Exclusive" they kept showing before some games very odd. Xbox One launched like 4 years ago.

Nothing but Halo (maybe not even that) is going to be "Xbox" exclusive if you don't count the PC. In fact most MS games from now on will be for the digital version, play anywhere which means one purchase for both Xbox and PC.

I'm even talking about console exclusive to Xbox 1 there was nothing that is exciting coming out. PC isn't even in the discussion for me.

MS has got to be losing $100 or so per console at $499. Just having the cost of the 4K Blu-Ray player is going to cause their parts cost to go up higher than Sony's, plus the higher end internal specs. But if it was $599, sales would have been poor.

And, and MS still can't name a console. Although its maybe clever that the acronym for XBox One X is XBOX. I think it should have just been called XBox Scorpio.

Well, I have an Xbox One S at the moment I picked up for $150 back on black friday. I personally have a $200 limit for console purchases. Guess I'll be waiting awhile on the X.

The Giant Bomb 'We talk over the ... conference' YouTube casts are hilarious. As one of them mentioned, it follows xbox = X Box One X. Two best things pre-E3 so far is XBO-X and Wolfenstein II. Especially when the character drops acid at the end after witnessing clearly someone he cares for get her head chopped off.

I actually do not think Microsoft needs any games exclusive to the Xbox anymore. By positioning the Xbox One X at the $499 price point, you'll have to spend more on PC to get the equivalent smooth & responsive gameplay. Responsive being the key, not necessarily related to FPS.

Whichever platform their target audience chooses, console or PC, Microsoft wins as long as developers use DX12 and stays within their Windows ecosystem. By extension AMD also wins by having these games already mostly optimized for them on PC without costing them anything extra in labour, money, or time beyond their (admittedly well financed) console developer support.

Steam will take some sales on PC, maybe even most or all. Yet IMHO Microsoft will still win with Windows 10 and expanding DX12 reliance while still providing basic hardware needed at a good price.

I dunno, I don't see more than a handful of people who want to rush out to pay $500 for something that literally does nothing other than give you upgraded graphics over the cheaper consoles. Yes it will do well at launch because of all the techies and early adopters, but I'm talking about after that. You can also get a PS4 Pro for much cheaper and get the PS4 exclusives plus 99% of what is going to show up on the X1X.

At least the PS4 Pro is $100 more than the slim model, and it's only $400. The Xbox One X is going to be DOUBLE the price of the Xbox One S.

Like as of right now there is absolutely no reason for the majority of people to purchase the X1X. You can play 100% of the games that will work on it without even purchasing one for half the price.

In general, I don't get the whole 'console upgrade' bullshit either and think it's going to hurt the console industry in the long run.

I don't disagree, also don't forget both Sony & Microsoft also usually come out with cheaper "slim" consoles at lower price points when sales start to slow.

$500 seems under priced to me for that performance. I may be getting one come November.

Games make people buy systems. Them not having killer exclusives only hurts them. Especially with the great exclusives PS4 has had and will have even more so. Coming out with an upgraded system and other than Forza, no great new exclusive to showcase on it. It's the reason why I only turn on my Xbox One when I want to play some Forza. I really wanted them to have at least one exclusive game that wowed me. And remember, we are talking console exclusive, not PC/console exclusive.

great specs and all - this is honestly a new console as opposed to ps4pro. BUT, waayyy too expensive...but should have been 400.

Sony needs to drop to 325/350 during xmas to secure the userbase; they don't have a choice. console disparity is too great - xbox1x is actually going to deliver 4K whereas Ps4Pro barely delivers it. Sony also needs killer/must-have software for PSVR.

I'm gonna agree with others that this is a good price point. Anthem, Metro, and F7 looked phenomenal in 4k. I think you would need at least a 400-500 vga itself to even think about 4k on a PC.

If I get a 4k tv, I might consider it.

Also, I like the direction MS is taking with regards to console gaming. Full backwards compatibility. This is just like PC. You buy your game once, and you can play it on any of thier consoles. Then you keep putting old stuff on sale, for extra money cuz people love buying stuff cheap that they will never play, lol. I'm guilty of this as well.
