Micro Center in Columbus has $100 MIR on the 360 Core or Platinum system.

They're celebrating the opening of their gaming store. I bought one yesterday and will be mailing in the form. You only need a copy of the receipt and a copy of the UPC.

The core normally sells for 299.99, 199.99 AR, Premium is 299.99AR. They also sill have the vonage discount going on. Sign up for 1 year of vonage and get 200 off any purchase of 199 or more. So core system is free AR and premium is 100 bucks AR. I didn't really want a 360, but dang thats a nice deal.

Also any madden game over 39.99 nets you a 20 dollar gift card this week.

Thats a pretty stupid comment, why would they be charging more then retail price for it?

This is a good deal, but I am still wondering what the draw of the 360 is. Obviously it has better graphics, but what else? It seems like some games, madden 06 and 07 specifically are lacking in features compared to the later gen versions. I don't play video games too often, so I doubt I can justify getting a 360, since I have an xbox right now

That's how it is with the release of every new system. There's always a handful of launch titles, few of which are good. Then, there's a dead period as far as new games go.

Developers then begin to transition from the old systems to the new. After a while, more games start being released.

People who buy systems early are those who have to have the latest and greatest. Nothing wrong with that, that's just what they choose to spend their money on.

And nice find by the op. I'm not much of a gamer these days, but I'd be very tempted to buy the 360 at that price.

I already have a 360 that I play games on (err, my son plays on).

I decided to go ahead and buy this one to put with my PC for when I start tinkering around with XNA in a few weeks!

Plus, with Texas Hold-em coming out, it would be nice to have the spare in case two people in the house want to play against each other.

Which makes me think -- the 360 controller should have had an LCD screen or add-on much like the Dreamcast for player specific info that can't be seen by other players.

I am just saying, i can get an xbox core for free or a premium for 100 bucks. Thats a sweet deal. I may get one just to resell it for the cash. But I know my xbox will not live on forever, and as much as I might want a PS3, I doubt I will be able to justify the price until after it drops. So I am wondering if I should get one and actually keep it.

But I just got madden 07 for the xbox, it has fantasy draft, owner mode, the ability to edit players, and maybe some more stuff that the 360 just doesn't have. Why on earth are they putting more stuff into the older gen versions and not in the new gen versions? MAdden and NCAA are 2 of the games I love most, and the 360 got crappy versions. Just wondeirng if its worth it.
