It seems like some games, madden 06 and 07 specifically are lacking in features compared to the later gen versions. That's how it is with the release of every new system. There's always a handful of launch titles, few of which are good. Then, there's a dead period as far as new games go.
Developers then begin to transition from the old systems to the new. After a while, more games start being released.
People who buy systems early are those who have to have the latest and greatest. Nothing wrong with that, that's just what they choose to spend their money on.
And nice find by the op. I'm not much of a gamer these days, but I'd be very tempted to buy the 360 at that price.
