UPDATE: Apparently a Forza 3 250GB bundle exists as well, but so far is only slated for release in Europe on October 23. Also, no custom paint job.

why is it a slap in the face of ODST. Granted the promotion of ODST isn't as big as say halo 3 or even halo wars. I based that purely on lack of tv ads for ODST. They know the Halo name alone will sell the game.

Microsoft is wanting people who are between the fence on the ps3 to jump on this bundle since its avaliable for both and sales numbers for both systems are pretty good on the 1st one.

That's a hell of a value. COD:MW2 and the controller are worth $100 by themselves. Custom designed console plus a 250GB HDD make this a fantastic deal.

Exactly, no real ad campaign for ODST, and then instead of going with a strong 1st party holiday game to introduce a 250GB model, they go with a 3rd party option.

Not saying it was wrong, just saying it's a pretty clear sign that MS has a weaker than usual 1st party lineup going into the holiday season.

Now would be a good time for Sony to introduce a 250GB Uncharted 2 or Ratchet and Clank package for the same price.

The video that is now up on xbox.com says "This hard drive is not being sold separately." Of course I'm sure that won't last forever - they will just milk this package for a while then release the HD later. At least these bundles should be guaranteed Jaspers.

Re: ODST - I don't think ODST was ever expected to be as big a deal as Halo 3 was. If they had a real Halo 3 successor (i.e. with new multiplayer) they might have a new Halo edition of the console. I guess Halo: Reach is supposed to be the next big Halo game?

Yeah, pretty sure the 120GB being exclusive to the elite lasted all of a month, and the fact that it would be sold separately was leaked before the elite actually launched.

I think I am going to go ahead and preorder this. Gonna wait till the ECA gets some more amazon codes. I already preordered a Prestige Edition for myself and a Regular Edition for my brother. I'll just cancel the regular and give him the one with the console. Been needing to get another 360 for the bedroom anyways.

I don't think so - if you watch the xbox.com video, there's a brief shot of the controllers that shows a gray underside, or at least some kind of gray stripe along the part facing the player. The regular black controllers don't have that.

EDIT: Hmm, I think I may be wrong about this, seems like I'm misremembering my Elite controllers. I guess I've been using a guitar controller too much.

I wonder, when this "special edition" 360 RRODs (which it will, it's just a matter of when), will they send you back another "special edition" one, or will they send you a generic one? What happened with the "special edition" Halo 3 360s that came back from repair?

Apparently there's a Halo 3 ODST console bundle after all. Only announced for PAL territories so far, though.

It contains a 120GB Xbox 360 Elite, controller (curiously, not an ODST controller), a copy of Halo 3: ODST, a copy of Halo 3 and access to the Halo: Reach beta.

It's due later this month, and so far, has only been announced for PAL territories, with prices ranging from ?280 in continental Europe (USD$410) to 4,228 Rand in South Africa (USD$574).

When you send them a special edition console for repair they will open it up, replace the guts, close it up and send it back to you.
