I noticed there is only 1 USB port on the Xbox.. But I am not truely a console gamer, so the xbox's controller is primitive to me. The control of a mouse is far more superior (I believe). Is it possible to connect a: Mouse. b. Keyboard. c. Joystick.?

I'd then be playing a lot of console games if this were possible. Is it?

There is actually 3 USB ports on it. I believe they have keyboards you can get for it, but you can't use them during most games, only to type. But you're not gonna be able to turn the 360 into a PC.

As Killerme33 said below, there are 3. The oval panel in the front can be pressed in (door) and there are 2 more USB ports there.

There is a keyboard/mouse dongle slated for release. Videos of it in use have popped up all over the place. I think the retail for it is around $70 though, which I think is just shy of stupid.

I'll be dead before I buy a PS3. I hardly play 360 or any console games. I'm not throwing more money at a new system.

I also heard of an upcoming mouse/keyboard.. I hope that I can actually use the mouse/keyboard to control my movement.

Games like Ace Combat 6 would be great with a joystick. But I don't see myself buying the 360 joystick.

I have my own. I just don't understand why even have USB ports if not compatible with PC..

Because then they'd have to incorporate drivers into the OS for the 360 in order to use every USB device that you can use out there. The ones that use the USB port right now have a standard API that they reference in order to work with games. They're going to have to release an update to the 360 firmware to support the keyboard & mouse that they're adding. So its basically up to the hardware manufacturers to use the 360's API most of the time in order for a device to work with the 360 and I doubt many manufacturers of PC devices are willing to do that.

All I can say is that Microsoft better get those force feedback drivers for the PC out.

If the 360 would allow mouse and keyboard for their FPS games, I could see a considerble amount of "cross playing" pc gamers.

Also they really only need to make sure microsoft peripherals work the xbox 360. I mean sure I would prefer to use my logitech mouse, but if I could at least have a keyboard and mouse it would directly influence my game buying decisions. I might even buy a game on both the console and PC for different gaming situations.

I'm on the other side of that debate. If you get to use a kybd&mouse then I'll be forced to as well, or else get owned in every MP match. The primary issue for myself, is this; I don't want to have to sit@a table? use a tray? hook up my 360 to my monitor and sit@my desk, or WTF ever other option for them I'll have to use. My 360 is on a HDTV in the LR, and kicked back with my feet up, controller in hand, is how I want to roll when console gaming. I'll play on PC if I want the other experience.

So I hope MS doesn't decide to kill my relaxation factor by turning it into a pseudoPC gaming experience for 1st&3rd person shooters. There is a learning curve to using the controller, but once you adapt, and since everyone else is using the controller too, it works out just fine IMO.

XCM released XFPS 360 which allows for mouse/keyboard on the 360. Unfortunately, they did nothing about the 'dead zone' which is the invisible boundry box. So for sniping you move the mouse and nothing happens until you hit the edge of the boundry box. So not worth it at all IMHO.

SplitFish is set to release the FragFX which gives mouse/Fragchuck (Think Wii nunchuck) to the PS3. I'm very excited by this as I can't wait to start playing FPS on the PS3. Love 1st/3rd person shooters but to go from mouse/keyboard to controller is just painful.

I emailed SplitFish and they said they were working on a model for the 360. But apparently waiting for MS execs to approve it. I think MS is trying to keep the 360 distinction from the PC intact. I personally would rather have the mouse/keyboard ability.

As for it being fair, life is not fair. PC gamers have it the worst. Some have top of the line kit while others have to scrape by on bare minimum settings. That's not fair but that's the way it is.

Which, IMO, is one of the points in favor of console gaming right now. The PC has pros too, I hope the K&M for shooters, remains one of them

oh the irony. Life isnt fair, remember?
