I wouldn't say you're an asshole, you're simply trying to make money. If someone else doesn't get an XBOX360, it's their own fault they didnt preorder.

Re the guy who's local EB told him he was SOL until March:
I'm betting stores are only alotted so many preorders... just try a different store and you will probably have better luck. I'm sure not all stores are backed up untul March. They were pretty hot when they launched in 2001... I didn't preorder and had no problem getting one during the first week.

Well, Circuit City should have their allotment available since they didn't do the preorder thing.

The controller retails for $50, NFS:MW is $60, I think PGR might be $60 too. I saw memory cards for around ~$40 I'm fairly sure.

So it's actually a better deal than buying everything separatly. Maybe it's a third-party memory card or they're not retailing for $40.

I work for a Blockbuster Game Rush, and we've been hearing rumors that X360 shipments have been cut significantly for launch, no reason given yet. I hope it's not true, or there are going to be a lot of angry people.

yeah thats what i heard also. the first batch thats available for preorder is already OOS. Next shipment is jan 2006 i believe. this really sucks.

oxm.co.uk is reporting that the USA will get 1,098,200 Xbox 360's while the UK well only see 50,000 on launch

If you live in the UK, you might have a bit of a wait getting an new Xbox 360. The latest estimates suggest that the UK will only be getting a dismal 50,000 Xbox 360?s for launch day. Compare that to the Sony PSP which sold 185 units on its launch weekend in the UK.

The US however will be getting a lot more. It is expected that the US will see 1,098,200 units with 20% being allocated to core bundle packages. Large retailers such as Wal-Mark and Best Buy are expected to receive the majority of the shipment. Again, compare that to the Sony PS2 sold around 185,000 consoles for its launch back in 2000.

These numbers are coming from a booklet sent to Microsoft stock owners. The booklet also mention that Microsoft intends to sell 4-million Xbox 360?s within 5 months and expanding their Xbox live user base to 14-million."

I've read about this stockholders presentation several different places. It's also said that the 3 manufacturing places an generate 100,000 units a week. So that'd easily put them over the said 400,000 / 600,000 units before the 21st.

That said..we will see what happens.

What's amazing is that stores give you receipts for what you buy. You can return items for your money back. So, why not take a chance and buy some extras. If they aren't going for a bunch on ebay or elsewhere, return them to the store. There is no risk. But, if you seriously think these aren't going to fetch a ton on ebay then you are kidding yourself.

I have one 360 Pre ordered and I plan on showing up at Costco before they open on the 22nd. If I can't sell them then ya I plan on just returning them. If you check out Cragislist many people are offloading their pre-order guarantees for $800 a pop and will throw in any games they want at face value.
