Well the standard warranty is up, but the red ring warranty is still in place..in fact I just sent it off a day or so ago..

That's the important warranty. Don't use a custom case until that's up. That's the only warning I can really give you. Aside from that, putting a window & lights in computers/consoles/etc was cool in 2003 before people started selling the shit mainstream.

It'd be like if a Honda civic had a factory option for carbon fiber hood, big ass wing, and lights.

Exactly, don't bother wasting money on making your 360 look "cool." Spend the money on a new game instead.

I went through that phase with my original xbox, but I was spending a lot of money and spending a lot of time on something that honestly, didn't really matter. Maybe I've just grown up a little bit, but I see it as unnecessary.

The only possible benefit that I can see from using a custom case is potentially better airflow/cooling. Not worth losing the RROD warranty though. If after your RROD warranty is up then it might be something worthwhile to consider.

Completly not worth it. The rrod warranty is too important. U shouldnt even have a 360 anyway, the fail rate is like 54% or something ridiculous like that. Would u fly in a plane with 54% fail rate?

just do a custom mod, you'll enjoy the rewards better, even if it kind of looks like shtt, you might get a little more satisfaction that you did it yourself. buy a custom premade case is boring and personally I don't enjoy it.

if the RROD warranty is not up yet, I wouldn't mod the case yet, unless you got $200 extra to buy an arcade when your 360 dies.

I just want a black gloss case..nothing special..maybe the blue lighted one just cause if I plan to do it why not. The white just doesn't match all my other components..thats really the only reason...not to look cool..but I'll probably just wait if it voids the "important warranty" haa.

If I were to mod my Xbox's case, I'd get that Lian Li XB01. Apparently, it makes your console extremely quiet (saw a few vids on youtube) - that's the only thing I would change with my Elite - the two stock fans are crazy loud ! It's a falcon model btw - I get a headache really fast (it's almost like MS did it on purpose to limit game time so you can't play anymore for the day...). I install my games on the HDD, so the DVD is not a problem (as it only spins up for a moment when I launch games).

So, if you decide to mod, my advice would be the XB01 - the only case that makes the noise go away
