Yeah, honestly all this did for me was make the PS3 look more competitive.
Is that due to the release of the Elite or the lack of a price drop as many were hoping for?
I'm one of the people that have not owned a 360 but have been in the market recently. When my interest really piqued a few months ago, the rumors of the Zephyr had already started so I waited. Now this has been released and I'm glad I waited because now I'll be able to take advantage of the larger hard drive & HDMI.
I love a quote I read on another message board: "Judging by the amount of complaining, I must have missed the bullet point in the press release where Microsoft told us all that the Core & Premium were being discontinued and all 20GB hard drives would stop working."
I don't understand why people are upset that there's one more option. For newcomers like myself, I believe it's a good thing.
Because its silly. They should have released it in just black and be done with it. HDMI is not a feature really. I have a dual hdmi tv AND a hdmi switching recvr, i still wont have space to plug this in. My premium is already going through vga with 1080p no problem thnx. HDMI should simply have been added to the premium model. Its like an enhanced power plug... yippeee.
I realize the HDMI means nothing to you, but many TVs won't take 1080p over component and not all HDTVs have VGA ports. With some games actually using 1080p now it actually will help some of the rest of us out.
I understand that you're not getting
exactly what you want, but how does it
hurt you? Many are acting like MS is doing something negative towards them because of this when all they're doing is giving the consumers one more option. Nothing is going away. If you don't feel that the new features are worth it, then you don't hand over your money and nothing is lost.
There are a lot of features that I'd like to have at a lower pricepoint in a lot of items, not just video game systems. Usually the manufacturers don't come through. Such is life. Why do people feel so entitled to the specific features that they wanted?
You shouldnt have waited,. The time lost in enjoying your 360 will NOT be made up with the additional "features".
Honestly, whether or not you think I should have waited doesn't matter to me, just as my opinions on your buying decisions shouldn't matter to you.
As I said, my interest in the 360 only really got started a few months ago so waiting 2-3 months for a better version of the same console wasn't a hard decision and I'd do it again. I'd actually argue that due to the lack of games until this past holiday season that it would have been quite foolish for me to buy within the first 10-12 months it was on the market.
I realize that you don't think the features are worth it, but to me, the 120GB drive alone is worth the extra $80 considering the $180 they're gouging customers for it separately. There have been enough reports of people filling up their 20GB drives already. I'm sure that over the next ~4 years of the console's life that I would have managed to fill it up as well. Now owning the 120GB from the get go will allow me not to have to worry about dropping $180 down the line, which would have brought the total console + HD cost to $580 without anything else factored in.
This is strictly a personal thing, but even if it had included wireless I wouldn't use it for gaming. The interference that comes along with city apartment living around here wreaks havoc on wireless gaming ability.
