There are a lot of headphones made specially for gaming and for use on the 360. I've previously used my HD555's for that but as its Christmas and I really don't want/need anything but my family insists on getting me something, I thought I'd ask for a pair with microphone and everything for late gaming sessions.

Anyway, the only real thing I want from them is built in mic capability and value for money. I don't care for crazy features, I just want quality and reliable sound.

Suggestions?

Price doesn't matter, will take suggestions and considerations on anything from any price.

Thanks!

Ill second the X41. Great headphone, lightweight, great overall sound. I really like having all the sound go through them so that if I want to be up late there is no noise.

I have the X41 as well. Only problem I've encountered is the chat cable can cause static and popping in the earphones. TB sent me two (1 replacement and 1 spare) and had to change out the replacement 5 months in. I'm working on my spare right now.

I also have the X11 (had it first) and upgraded to the x41 because of all the wires. Now I use the X11 on my laptop when gaming.

The X500 is too pricey, even for me..but it is completely wireless. It has a bluetooth puck to go on your 360 controller.

My kids enjoy the x41 for gaming, and I watch a lot of movies late at night after everyone's asleep, and they work great for movie theater sound without waking everyone up.

The X11s are around $50, and the X41s I bought from Amazon for $135 or around there. The X500s are brand new, so not many deals ~$270.

If you are near a Best Buy they have a listening kiosk setup with the x500 and X11+DSP. The X500 on it sounds just like the X41s. I think you're paying the $100 more for bluetooth capability (which makes it compatible with the PS3 and your cellphone)

I have the X41's (got them refurbished from Woot) and I really like them but....the bass seems a little "tinny," even if I turn the bass boost up. Is there anyway to turn the bass up and treble down?

I have the X12s and they're great. From an audio fidelity standpoint, I think they're all the same. It's the wireless convenience that bumps the price so much.

Anyone with the X41's had problems with other devices on the 2.4 range? I have my router (2.4) and a main phone line (2.4 as well) in the same room. None will be in the line of sight but I wanted to be sure there won't be any problems.

Also, has there ever been lag?

I did have problems at first. I have a 2.4/5 ghz router, wireless printer, 3 wifi blu-ray players, 4 wifi laptops, 1 wifi desktop, PSP, 2 iPhones, an iPad, and an iPod touch on my home network...oh yeah and the 2.4 ghz phones. What I did was googled about it and made a change in my routers channel setting. Problem fixed. Even tested with everything on and no more problems. I literally play with the headset on within about 5 ft of the router and no issue. I have found now when it does start acting up just change the batteries out and your GTG. I keep a fresh set ready by me. Just change out and go charge the ones you took out.

If it concerns you any they make an IR wireless version for cheaper. My neighbors kids have them and they work fine too, and
don't mess with the wifi interfernece at all because they are IR.

Oh yeah no lag either. BF3 sounds glorious, just make sure you set in ame to surround setting. I'll agree that the bass could be boomier, but extended play sessions (>4 hrs in a sitting even) they are comfortable and any boomier would probably get annoying.

If you really need a built in mic, Sennheiser PC 360. If you need a closed can the pc 350. The pc 360 will blow just about any headset out there away imo They are basically an HD 595 with a mic.
Personally I use the HD 598's with a table mic

If you can deal with wired I would also say X12's. I recently upgraded from the old X1's and the nicest feature is you can hear your own voice when chatting. Perfect so I don't scream into the mic

Anyone with the X41 use rechargeable batteries? I've been playing with it and the thing eats up juice like a hog so I'm thinking of buying a battery charger. Any particular brand that makes the best kind of batteries and recharger or are they all the same.

Thats what I have done. I have two sets of batteries so that I will always have a set ready to go. I just wish that the x41 would give you a heads up when they are about to die since all the sound comes through them, when they do its bad news trying to find the other set in the middle of a match.

I have 6 rechargeable batteries devoted to it. 4 can charge at once while the other two are in the headset. Main reason for 6 is that my kids are horrible about charging them up. They'll go through all 6 then be without for 20 min while a batch charges. I have the energizer pack from Sams, but also have bulk batteries from eBay AA and AAA 24 packs from there because of all the other crap around the house too.

Does it make a difference what brand charger and battery is used? Like is one better than the others or just get whatever is cheapest.

I think a name brand charger makes a difference. No name chargers have been junk IMO. As for batteries the no name brands work just fine.

I did for mine and to me it has a much more clear sound. Kind of less talking in a tin can sound. Can get it from monoprice for like 2 bucks.

I highly doubt there's such thing yet as wireless ones that connect to the XBox via the built in wireless? Not needing the amplifier box and all that other stuff that most come with?
If they made ones that could be synced with the XBox, I'd be onboard. Or even wired ones via a single USB cable. Or maybe its just a technical thing, because surely MS would've made some by now?

Btw, got the X41's and love them so far. Few complaints but nothing deal breaking, about to go use them now for some MW3.

Thanks again to everyone for advice and input!
