XBOX 360 inventory locator(BestBuy)

worked for me in Dallas this morning. i got there early and was elated to buy one of the four 360s they unboxed from a UPS package.

the store in cerritos had 9 premiums and 1 core today, but were all gone by the time i went there at 1pm

the store in orange got 2 in but were both used to fill defective units, so in all they had 0


also, the store locater seems to be down. it has been down all day.

I had two friends pick some up at the Mission Viejo store, they said they got the last two. My wifes coworker just picked one up at Orange. This was at around 11:30 and she said she just walked in and picked it up with no problem.

Well, it worked for me in my area... sorta. A couple of days ago, I decided to check the page and see who in my state had the 360 in stock. It came back with a city about 30 miles from me. I opted not to go there. The following day, the closest best buy to me, about 15 miles away, showed it was in stock... so I go.

I get there, grab a shopping cart and head to the gaming section. No 360's in sight. I ask a store rep if they have any 360's in and he said, "Nope." I decide to go over to customer service to see if they would just check their inventory for me. This very rude young lady takes forever, not even checking the computer, and finally calls someone. She tells me to go see this guy in the gaming section, so I do.

I meet up with the guy in the gaming area and tell him I was looking for a 360. He says they are out but he could answer any questions I might have. I tell him that I checked the site and it said this location had 360's in stock. He then advises me that it is inaccurate info and that the site has nothing to do with the store's inventory. But then he says, "I guess you just happened to luck out, though..."

I said, "Luck out as in how?" Because a minute earlier, he was acting like they didn't have any. He then went on to take me to the 360 aisle, pointing out the games and accessories, told me how there are two different versions. I finally said, "Do you or do you not have either system in stock?" and his response was, "Oh yes, we have both."

Sheesh! "Go get me one then." LOL

I got one, but it was the weirdest shopping experience I have had there. Talk about being given the runaround.

Don't belive this system. I checked on line yesterday and it says there is nothing in my area. Then I called the games department at my local BestBuy and they had one premium and two cores. Guess which one I bought!
Just call around. Walmart, target and Bestbuy are getting shipments all the time now. The target guy said the shipments come over night and are in the store to buy at 8am and no one is calling at that time anymore to see if the systems are in. Just call around, you will find one.

I checked the system and one of my stores says it has them. But I went and they claimed they had none in stock. Today, the inventory tracker still shows it in stock.

Did you just ask one of the regular workers in the game area or did you go to customer service? I ask because I was told the same thing by a best buy employee but then spoke with the cust svc people, talked to another guy and then I was told they had plenty in the back. My area now shows out of stock so I guess the word got out.

I think, sometimes, BB employees tell us no, knowing that their friends can come by and purchase some. So, double check... you might get lucky.

FYI I just snagged on at a BB this morning. I was talking to a guy in the line and he apparently was a buddy for a guy who worked at that store. Since BB employees can't save consoles or buy them themselves he was getting one for him. Anyway he did say that if a BB store were to get some Xboxes during the day, that they are not suppose to start selling them until the next morning at openning (now I'm sure this has been broken) but some hope for you guys who call stores that the online inventory says in stock, perhaps you should stick it out for the next morning.

FYI, I just picked one up at the midtown manhattan best buy (44th and 5th). They had 18 premium consoles left as of 11:00am. There were about 4 people looking to buy one as well so I'd say if you rush over your chances arent too bad. And by the way, I called in the morning and was told on the phone they are completely sold out. Then I called another Best Buy and had them check the inventory to confirm the stock. The guy told me employees generally do not have any idea if it is in stock and are just told to say they are sold out. He suggested speaking with the manager directly if other employees claim they are out.

So for those that have succesfully used the locator...

Did you just walk into the store and ask for the xbox360? Or did they have them up at a display? Or did you have to speak to a manager cause they are all in the back?

There's one local BB that has them in stock (according to the locator)... just wondering what to expect when I get to the store.

I saw a scan of one of the Best Buy newsletters that said all xbox360s are kept in the back and given out when people ask for them.

I went into the store after seeing them in-stock. They checked the inventory in their computers ( I looked over his shoulder) and it said they had zero. I then spoke to a manager and he said the 360s would be on the floor the next morning. I arrived the following morning and much to my suprise they had several premium 360s for sale and a little helper boy at a table handing them out. Good luck finding one and DOA4 kicks butt!

Well that was easy enough.

Went to the local BB, told a small group of employees standing around at the door that I saw they had some xbox360s in stock on their website.

Two of the employees told me right away that was a mistake and they don't. A third said he thought they might have one but wasn't sure. A fourth said he thought they had one left.

He leaves to go talk to a manager... sure enough there is one premium system left.

I show 5 stores in my area that are in stock. Neat. Still waiting for Costco bundle to come back, myself.

the premium comes with the media remote, I dont really use it though. And for those that get told they do not have them in stock, always talk to the manager to confirm. The people on the floor maybe have a 40% chance of knowing what's going on from my experience.
