Of all the silly statements that you have posted (and thats a fairly long list) this one might be the silliest.

Consoles dominate the vast majority of game genres: Sports, Action, platformers, Racing, fighting etc.

The genres in which the PC still has the edge in: FPS, RTS

For the best all around gaming experience you cant beat a console. However, there is no reason to limit yourself to one platform or the other though. By doing so you are missing out on a ton of great games.

Go to gamerankings, on the recent list of top rated games there are zero PC titles. In past 12 months of the 20 top rated games only 4 were PC titles. There is a reason iD switched from PC to console as their lead platform. Most of the other major game developers use the consoles as their lead platform these days.

Why are we even arguing about the 8800GTX in a thread about the XBOX 360 or Wii? That's just wiitarded (had to use it )!

I own both (8800GTX and XBOX 360) and they're two different realms all-together! Also, anyone who harbors inner segregatory feelings toward a person because he is inferior and plays console games rather than PC games is just an idiot. There's absolutely no reason for elitism over how you choose to play your games and enjoy them. This coming from a mostly PC gamer who also plays consoles games... uhoh... I'm an evil turncoat!

Seriously, Wii is one of the most impressive consoles I've ever had, and it hasn't reached but a fraction of its potential yet. Anyone who thinks the Wii is taking steps back and that only the other consoles are "next-gen" needs to get their head examine. PS3 and 360 are the ones who aren't moving, playing the same old games we played last year, and the year before. Having a Blu-ray or HD-DVD drive and a fancy GPU doesn't make Madden any more fun than it was the last five years, especially when those shiny graphics are a joke compared to what we have on PC already... Wii is the only one that actually makes any REAL progress, though Microsoft's well-planned online infrastruction deserves some mention.

If the Wii is "regression", then take me back to the stone age please.

100% correct.

Microsoft and Sony were actually both correct in saying that the Wii is a great 2nd system...

just, not to their system.

8800GTX FTW if you want the best graphics that the pathetic RSX and Xenos can only dream of putting out.
If you want a unique gaming experience on the side to a 8800GTX powerhouse, get a Wii.

The 360/PS3 are jokes and pathetic excuses for hardware when it comes to putting out graphics.

A Wii is coming close to becoming my "2nd system" that MS/Sony told me to get.

More retarded statements from Crusader, big surprise there! Too bad there are only crappy RTS games and Sims games topping the PC game charts. I'm sure the 8800 GTX will be put to good use for those uber fun games. I mean just look at you, you troll AT forums/DailyTech comments all day even after blowing all your piggy bank money on the 8800 GTX. Your lack of logic is astounding kid.

Your comments are over the line. Please take the next week off to reconsider your approach.

I think some people are missing the real issue. It is a valid observation to point out that touting PS3 and 360 for their graphics is a ridiculous position (graphics do not make a game and going into next year PC will smack both consoles around, anyway). However, the main reason people buy a certain console is for the exclusive games that they prefer.

So if you want Gears of War and Dead Rising get a 360. If you want JRPGs and whatever else the PS3 has (imo, the PS3 library is a bit sparse currently) get a PS3. If you want games that focus on gameplay with the non-traditional wiimote, get a Wii. Personally, if I had the money I'd get all 3 (Wii first though ). And if you like the variety of FPS, RTS and MMO games available on PC, then invest your cash into some new PC hardware.

I'll be going with PC/Wii for my gaming needs. Viva la revolution!

Point is what good is the PC's graphics ability when there are maybe 1-2 good games per year that take advantage of it? For 2006 there's really nothing out there that requires an 8800 GTX to power it. On the other hand 360 is already in its second gen and games like Gears of War are surfacing (which looks better than any PC game out). The 8800 GTX costs what, $650? The 360 premium is $400 so you can get that and GoW and still come out ahead and have a much better gaming experience than sitting on your paperweight staring at Oblivion's trees and grass for the rest of the year hoping some PC game comes out in 2007 to take advantage of your expensive GPU.

I was one of the biggest PC advocates and would still love to see it reign supreme over consoles but the sad truth is that even top tier PC devs are beginning to favor the consoles over the PC. Just look at Epic with Gears of War, it won't be available on the PC for a long time and in the interim what are PC users going to get from them? Yet another iteration of UT, yawn. Like another person in this thread pointed out, even id has switched to the console as their platform of choice. As the line continues to blur between consoles and PCs, you will probably see PC depending almost exclusively on console ports for games in the future barring a few RTS/MMO games here and there (unless PS3 begins to support kb/mouse heavily, then I bet even MMO/RTS will switch).

That was in reply to the guy who called someone else an idiot for not liking the Wii. I basically copied what he said and just changed around a few words The Wii is pretty nice as a party system, not much else though.

You may be right. Some MMOs are already available on consoles. The point I was getting at though is people buy systems based on the games they want. I don't know where PC gaming is going, but for the next few years at least, there will be titles that the 8800 series cards will make use of.

For the record, I'll take Twilight Princess over Gears of War any day. I haven't seen anything stellar about it other than it's graphics, which any Unreal 3 game will share. The co-op sounds interesting I suppose.

I had this same questiona few weeks ago. I bought the wii, tried it out, discovered that the insane number of wireless devices I have interfere with the controller, and then ebayed it for $150 more than I paid. I then bought a 360, ebayed the wireless controller for a wired one, and am having a ton of fun with it. FIght Night Round 3 is a blast, gears is fun (although not revolutionary) and Dead Rising is a blast (if you can get past the horrible save system)

It's gameplay? I'm not a big X360 fan, but I loved playing the game.

Good points. Exactly why I gave up on PC upgrades. I find myself playing nothing but BF2 and WCIII (occasional CS:S) on the PC and my current system is more than enough to handle that. While I'd love a core 2 duo/8800GTX, I have NO use for it now or even in the near future. As I look at my current games, all of them are for the 360 and the future games, I'm looking more towards playing them on the 360 than the PC even if they're cross platform.

The controller is simply fun to play with. I'm past the "stat whoring" of having a kb/mouse for FPS. Everyone else is on the same controller as me so it's fun with not so perfect aim. It's also a lot more fun to sit back and play on a big TV with surround than a 24inch screen and headphones. Couple that with Live and PC falls further behind.

In the end, it's about FUN, not how many FPS can I get after 6.xx drivers! The 360 delivers. I haven't even updated my drives for a few months....

Wii's lack of HDTV output makes me never want one to even come close to my brand new HDTV.

And this thread isnt for the 8800GTX or whatever. Its about the 360 and Wii choice I had.

And now the thread is discussing ( resolution, HDTV, gaming in general, graphics ) so I kinda think that falls under video just a little.

Ive read most of your signatures. So if your just here to troll.....go elsewhere.

After reading my posts, you are calling me a troll? I stated many valid points about PCs vs consoles.. whatever man. Focus on the sigs you apparantly dont like, rather than my posts in your thread which I thought we were having a fine conversation.
Thats alright. I dont have time for a conversation with someone who's going to act like you are.

He was also tied up with ATI much more than is known to the public before "officially" joining ATI as well. It doesnt mean much.

You sir are an unbelievably stupid... I tried to resist this whole thread not post any ill feeling towards you. I have a Wii and 7 games for it : Zelda , Wii sport , Monkey Super Ball , Rayman , Dragon Ball Z , Red Steal and Madden 07. Wii totally lacks in online play... i still have no idea why Wii sport , Rayman , Monkey Super ball and Madden don't have online multiplayer. I got bored of Wii sport, monkey super ball and red steal after 20mins of playing. Madden 07 and Zelda are the only decent game i have played on the wii so far but they have their fault. Wii is alright but not perfect as you make it sound. Dishing the 360 makes you look more like an idiot since that is the only new console to have a some real good library of games like dead rising , Gears of War , Viva pinata , rainbow 6 vegas , burnout revenge , graw , double Agent and more.
