Alright, what happened is I lost video, opened up the Xbox, replace the thermal paste, removed the x clamps and added screws which I tried various tightness's for but 1 of the times I didn't notice the Xbox was still on... It used to take it about 10 seconds before it would red ring (3 rings) and now it hardly makes a sound before it gives up... and hints?

You opened the xbox and dicked with it while it was on? Who knows what the original problem was, but what you have now is a broken xbox. Why would you ever open something with power still attached?

1- Out of Warranty
2- It was an accident
3- I don't want a reply from someone who doesn't want to help
4- I'm not dumb, it's obviously broken, help or gtfo...

My point is that any number of things could have been wrong with it, and now that you fucked with it while it was on that number of things increased. We can't narrow it down from your 2 sentences of description so it'd probably be best to work on what you know how to fix, and then look into getting another one. You could have shorted something from touching the mainboard while it was on, and you probably won't figure out what.

This is a forum for discussion, including discussing why you worked on your console with the power on. If you don't like what I have to say then keep lurking and stop posting.

Azeroth, I seriously doubt it. Because like gorcorps stated there's really no way of knowing what's wrong with it now since you opened it while it was powered up. Your screwdriver could've touched a portion of the mainboard and shorted out any number of circuits. The heatsink to the GPU/CPU could have been too loose and now it's fried. There could be any number of things wrong with it now and there's really no way to know. It's also highly unlikely that you'll be able to fix it yourself at this point. Your xbox is toast, time to buy a new one.

I already brushed you off as a stress outburst... why do you insist on making it personal? Leave other discussions in the forum they happened little boy.

do you really think you're going to get under my skin by calling me 'little boy?' keep your abusive childhood to yourself.

you have basically posted that people who have differing opinions from you should not post them. i said grow up and deal with it.

now you're telling people to stop posting if they don't like you being a douchnozzle in THEIR own thread. see how that makes you a double-douche?

Can we be done with this... please? A sweeping delete of everything here that isn't about the OP would be a good idea. Don't know why you're making this so personal and calling me out in random threads, but I'm done.

Generally when you do the Xclamp method, you have to actually overheat the GPU, so leave the heatsink off and wait for the two red lights to come on showing the overheating is done. Then apply the thermal paste, and tighten down the gpu heatsink a considerable amount.

The Original post is a little bit unclear as to whether or not the red ring is still appearing on the front of the xbox, or if there is no lights at all. Red ring = Maybe salvageable. No lights at all = Shorted out motherboard and probably just plain fried and won't work again.

So in summary, my suggestion is to just try the same method, but leave the GPU heatsink off, turn console on, wait for overheating, turn off, reapply GPU heatsink, turn on.

I have questions. Why does may Xbox reboot when I am downloading from a wireless network? It also reboots when I am on the dashboard sometimes.
