Can someone please help me out. I am using a 'Madcats' VGA adapter to hook up my XBOX 360 to my 24 Inch Acer P243w LCD. When I go into the Dashboard to change the resolution to 1080P I was shocked to see ho bad it looked. I loaded up COD 4 and there is soooo many Jaggies. So does someone here have some Advice for me on hoe to make the image look better?
Should I go buy the HDMI adapter for my old xbox 360? I bought it on launch day, But I did send it in to Microsoft for the RROD about six months ago. So I really have no Idea which version of XBOX 360 I got back. There is no HDMI connector so that is out of the Question.
Please somebody help me out?

Use an HDMI to DVI cable if you can.

Also is your LCD forcing fullscreen or does it have black bars?

He doesn't have HDMI, which is the problem. Also, CoD 4 is an upscaled 720p game. If you run it at 1080p resolution you might not be getting your money's worth. You should stick with 720p resolution.

Ditch the VGA adapter though and get this: http://www.madcatz.com/Default.asp?Page=411

That gives you HDMI out of your Xbox 360 and fully supports 1080p. You still probably won't see a difference in your game being jaggy when you go up to 1080p. You are forcing even MORE upscaling of that game. IIRC that game is internally rendered at 600p and then upscaled to 720p so you would be adding over 1 million more pixes to get 1080p out of nowhere. Can't get something for nothing m8. But you can enjoy 1080i and p games with that HDMI adapter.

Is you monitor set to fill or stretch instead of 1:1?What's your monitors native res? Monitors are usually 16:10 so putting a 16:9 res on there and stretching it can make it look like crap. Even on my 1080p TV if I set it to fill instead of 1:1 it screws up the 360's image, not sure what it is.

You need to have an Xbox360 Elite to output true 1080p with the HDMI lead getting stuck into an HDMI plug on your monitor, all it is doing is upscaling a 720p image to 1080i not 1080p even tho your monitor or even the 360 might say it is doing.

I don't know if that's true, with the VGA cables you don't even choose 720p, 1080p etc. you just choose the actual resolution (eg. 1920x1080 or 1280x720). HDMI is required for protected content, not 1080p.

man this is confusing. I keep getting conflicting Comments. Is there someone who has links to Articles or web pages to back up their claims?

The game is rendered in 600p on the Xbox, it's no wonder you're getting tons of jaggies. In fact, they'll be even more well defined on a better connection.

The only way to play the game at that res is to play the PC version.

Nope. The Elite isn't the only model with HDMI now and, even before that, you could still do true 1080p over component/VGA. The problem is that most games internally render at sub-HD resolutions and scale in the engine to an HD resolution. From there, the ANA/HANA chip in the XBOX can scale to 1080p or any other HD resolution. Though there are many "1080p" XBOX 360 games, only a handful of them actually render at 1080p.

This is where I'd put my money, too. See if your monitor provides you the option of doing 1:1 pixel mapping, versus stretch.

It could also be your cable (doubtful, but maybe MadCatz really underspec'd the cable), or it could be that your monitor just doesn't do very well with VGA (not so common, but it's been known to happen), as others have mentioned.

Everyone spouting off about how you need HDMI for 1080p needs to shut up - I've done it with the official VGA cable, and it looks awesome.
