Xbox 360 System Link Games?

Hey all, I was wondering if anybody here was familiar with games that have system link capability. I'm looking for games that can be played 4 v 4 with two xboxes system linked together.

After doing google research, I discovered that MW2 can't be played 4v4 on system link because you can't split screen and system link at the same time. Which is surprising to me, and a huge disappointment because I was planning on playing with some friends this weekend. You can only play 1 player per console when you're system linking on MW2 according to the info I found via google.

Anyway, because of this, I'm wondering if anyone here is aware of a different game that can be played 4v4 via system link + split screen.

Thanks!

Doesn't necessarily have to be a shooter, though I'm not aware of any 4-8 player games that aren't shooters.

Do you happen to know if you can system link two consoles, one using a Halo 3 disc and the other using the ODST disc? I'm 99% sure that it would work, but then again, I was 99% sure that MW2 would have 4v4 system link too . . .

Not a FPS, but Blur has system link support.

Unfortunately, Blur is 1 player per console while system linked. PGR4, on the other hand can be played with 2 players per console system linkable with 3 other consoles making it 8 players total.

You should check out GoW2 as you can also have 2 players per console for 10 players max (obviously, you'll need 5 consoles for that to work).

Are you fucking serious?! I was about to buy another copy of Blur so we could play 8 player races. I mean what is the point of limiting the players per console when linked? So let me see if I have this straight, I can 4 players with one console, but if I use system link with 2 consoles it will only support 2 players? WTF?! That is just about as retarded as it comes.

Well thanks for saving me some money.

Yep. I wished somebody would have told me so that I coulda saved myself some bucks. I bought 4 copies of Blur (when it was $10) so i could system link them together. Imagine my rage when I couldn't get them to system link with more than 1 player on the console...

I think I read a post somewhere that said that Bizarre MIGHT patch it to allow more than 1 player on the console for system linking.

Halo 3 is the only shooter I can think of that can do this.

Unfortunately, Halo 3 has been patched so that you can only do 2 players per Xbox for system link and online games. You can still do 4 player matches on the same xbox but when you try to do system link it wil only allow 2 per system. Don't know how long ago this happened but it sucks.

What is the point of limiting the players when linked? It just doesn't make any sense.

That's even worse. So it supported 4 v 4 before and then they removed the option? That is just fucking retarded and I REALLY don't understand why they don't want people doing 4 v 4.

I totally agree with you. I love having a bunch of friends over for 'game night' where we system link and go head to head with 8-10 people in the room. The games we play on game night are very limited now to just PGR4 and GoW2. I was stoked when I learned of Blur but then deeply disappointed when I discovered the limitations of system link.

BTW, I think the co-optimus site is TERRIBLE. Good luck figuring out the maximum # of players per console on system link for any given game...

Thanks for the responses guys. REALLY sucks that Halo 3 was patched to remove 4v4 over two consoles. I was debating whether to borrow copies from my friends but now I won't go through the hassle. Really disappointed in the lack of 4v4 in xbox games in general. Seems like an easy thing to code for a lot of these games.

I've got a copy of PGR4, but none of my friends have a second copy and I honestly didn't like the game enough to invest in another copy. Anybody know if Forza 3 can be system linked?

Halo 3 still has the ability to do 4 players per console over Xbox Live. As long as you have one Xbox Live Gold account per console, you should be able to do it.

I remember reading that Left 4 Dead can have 2 players per console online, though I'm not sure if it applies to system link (or if it even HAS system link). Don't know about L4D2 either. Might be the same, might not. I think Gears of War has a similar thing - 2 players per console.

I can say for sure that Borderlands has local splitscreen only. No splitscreen if you're doing online or system link, it's 1 player per console in that case.
