Trying to fix an older XBOX 360.
It's one of the older white units without a harddrive.
It works fine with a wired controler, but none of the wireless controlers that came with my XBOX 360 Elite will connect to the older unit. I thought it might be missing updates so I connected the HD from my Elite, and it was able to connect to XBox Live and download the updates. After the update, the GUI seems to be the same as my Elite now, but the wireless controlers still won't work.
The only thing physically wrong with it (that I can find) is that the cover for the IR sensor is missing. Is the little smoked plastic cover crucial to the IR function, and if so, what is the "offical" name of this piece so I can look up a replacement part?
I don't think this has anything to do with the controllers since they are RF not IR. Are there any other reasons that could keep the wireless controlers from connecting?
