XBOX got rejected by Toonami

I love my Tivo it lets me see lots or shows that are on when I'm in class.

I was watching my recorded shows tonight, mainly the most recent Batman Beyond episode.
XBOX is dependent on the marketing around it. That's a fact.
During todays (yesterdays?) Batman Beyond episode, Toonami smacked the XBOX across the face.

They were looking at the system in general and talking about (what they thought were) the best games of the system.

First they talked about DOA3. They said it should be called DOA 2.5, cause it's almost no improvement over DOA2. They joked it for a minute or two then went on to the next game which is...
Oddworld - Munch's Oddysey. Toonami basically joked that game too until the commercial break was over.

This is pretty big for Toonami. LOTS of young kids watch this block of shows (and older people too, but we know what we are going to buy and not buy). If they see something bad about a game system they are going to decide that they want something else. Thats HUGE in the television industry. This was probably the first time I've ever seen anything on TV that actually gave a bad review to one game (much less 2 games Or even AN ENTIRE CONSOLE SYSTEM!).

Goodbye XBOX...

Note: I'm not saying it'll dissappear within the next few days, but I believe the XBOX is a dying console and the way to go is PS2 for teenagers and older folks, and Gamecube for younger, middle aged, and older folks (yes I will own both within a few weeks. Not having to deal with XBOX means I have $400 to spend on games and not additional consoles/memory cards/controllers/etc.)

i haven't watched cartoon channel for awhile now...actually i've never really watched cartoon channel...it's funny how dbz is all popular now...i remember watching it in japanese in the 90's makes me feel old!

Sony and in particular Playstation 2 division is a big sponser is the channel. Not saying it was because of it but thats an interesting tidbit.

But consider they give EVERYTHING they review at least an 8 out of 10... what does that say about a 6?

I dont think Xbox sux but its lineup til now does. I feel the same way bout my CuBe. I play my PS2 more but am waiting for GCN to pickup soon(wishes). No one can argue that Xbox isnt the most capable system but games are what make a system great.

2. Runs off of a Celeron

3. Game engineers made games for 128mb, then MS only put in 64mb into the system

4. It uses a slow IDE hard drive

5. The OS is a stripped down NT kernel


Why the XBOX is better than an average PC-clone system:

1. Motherboard made by Nvidia, with 128bit memory support

2. Although it is a Celeron, the Cache pathways were increased to that of a Pentium III

3. At least they decided to go with NT for the OS


I had a bunch of people at work get onto the XBOX bandwagon, OH WOW COOL - I tried explaining to them about fony that system was, you'd be better off just building yourself a computer system. :disgust:

Seeing that anime by definition is animation, I think EVERYONE watches it for the anime. I believe you are referring to anime as Japanese Animation though. Nobody likes Japanimation dubbed in English, so I don't know why people would watch that. Rent the DVD and see how kicka$$ the voices the directors wanted their characters to have. (take Ninja Scroll and Street Fighter 2 V as examples)

Anyways, Johnny Bravo and Dexter rock. No questions asked.

Anime = Japanese Animation

I like English voices dubbed over the japanese anime. I love DragonBall Z. Anime in general doesn't put a lot of effort into how the mouth movements are supposed to be for the speech, so it doesn't matter what language it is in, it still looks okay.

Indeed. Aqua Teen Hunger Force is ALWAYS good, Sealab 2021 is usually pretty good too.

I used to watch Cow and Chicken a lot too. I don't know how that was even on cartoon network, some of the humor was waaayyy too adult for little kids.

The Xbox had the potential to blow the crap out of the PS2. The big downfall of Microsuck is that they didn't have the games lined up that they needed. I absolutly love the controllers for the Xbox. I do have to give Mircoslut props for them. The layout of the controller itself is great and its about damn time some company came out w/ the breakaway cables so when you accidently yank on the controllers a little too hard, you're 300 dollar plactic box doesn't go crashing to the floor.

What's your point??? People on this forum don't realize that not everyone has the capability to spend 1000 bucks or more on a good gaming system. We're part of a select few that can acually build and troubleshoot their own computers. So most people would have to buy from suck @ss Dell which a decent gaming system would probably cost about 1500-2000 dollars. You have great portability with the Xbox too. I think its great that they brought a game like Halo out... its kinda shows the rest of the non-computer-gaming world what kick ass games CS, Q3A, and UT really are.

As soon as Microsoft gets better games developers behind their backs... I'm sure their next console (if MS puts one out) will blow the sh!t out of all others........

Unless Microsoft releases computer versions of those games, I don't think that will work (or someobody writes an emulator). And to make it worse, I read that Microsoft games are no longer going to made for playstation in favor of the xbox.

The Xbox sold worse than the Dreamcast this week in Japan. Is that even possible??? Very sad. Without Japanese developers we are looking at the next 3DO.
