Xbox Holiday Bundle w/ 4 games $179.99 at Target

Man I really want an Xbox, but mainly for its media center capabilities as well as a few exclusive games. I just don't want to pay too much for it.

Okay so is the deal LINK But if you go into the store you'll see two versions of this bundle one with two games and this "new holiday bundle" with three games. The sale began on Sunday and will end on Saturday 12/13 look for the version with the three games and you'll be allow to pick up a PLATINUM HITS GAME free.

probably not looked highly upon on this forum, but how can i get more details about this, and what kind of mods are we talking? playing my backed up games? running linux? ANY information or links to other sites would be greatly appreciated!

See XBox Linux for some info. I think the hack will also work with Mech Assault. Google for 'xbox mechassault bios'

This is confirmed in Houston - though the Target i went to only had the 2+1 Free bundle available. The Free game rack was right beside the stack of XBoxes, i'd say there were at least 12 different game to choose from, including the new Simpson's game

Also confirmed at the San Jose Hillsdale Ave Target. They have a bunch of them.

the Target on Capitol Expressway/Silver creek doens't have this though.

wow, the new simpsons game was offered as one of the free games? that's a good deal because it isn't a platinum hit.

Yep, it was specifically placed in the "Platinum" rack - away from the regular rack they place the games on. I wanted to get one so bad - fiance wouldn't let me :Q

The only Simpson XBOX game I saw at my local Target in with the Platinums/$20 games was Simpson's Road Rage...not Hit & Run, which is the new game....I could be wrong, but doubt it.

My question was....

Someone in another related thread said that Halo is now a Platinum Hits game, thus being eligible to get for FREE with the Target XBOX bundle purchase. Can anyone confirm this? I know it's been lower to $30 recently(my Target still had it marked at $50) but haven't seen/heard anything about it being a Platinum Hits game now. thanks

EDIT: Just called my local Target, he said Halo is $30 and NOT a Platinum Hits title.

I opened a Target and got the 10% off entire order which also included the Canon A60 digicam and $50 gift card associated with it this week. Spent much money at Target but saved a bunch too

Picked up the deal at Target but before that I tried to PM to BB. Gave me alot of hassle about it and said that it wasn't printed in a national ad so they couldnt do it. Anyways, did the Target 10% off with a new account and IIRC it comes out to 173.19. Picked up Morrowind as my platinum hit.

Man I am so wondering if I really want this. I already have a PS2, and there are a few games exclusive to the Xbox(including Biowares upcoming Jade Empire) that I want to be able to play, plus I like the media center capabilities. But I'm not sure exactly how much use of those capabilities I would use. What all exactly can an Xbox do?

After looking over some the xbox game list, I am really considering it. Due to it being much like a computer, and probablly because its made by MS it gets a lot of games that are also available on the computer. I like playing games on the computer. But sitting ont he sofa on a bigger screen is my bread and butter. SO maybe I will bite. Gotta decide soon.

Although whats the likelyhood of a price drop after the holidays?

So what exactly can you do with a modded Xbox?

Play Divx and a few other file types. Play music, view pictures. Backup games, load games onto the hard drive for faster loading(how exactly does this work?), you can upgrade to a bigger drive, right? How do they get away with this? Wouldn't a mod chip essentially allow someone to load rented, or a friends games, onto thier console? Anything else I'm missing?

I don't currentlly have an HDTV or 5.1 surround sound, so I wouldn't be taking much advantage of the Xboxes superior abilities. I do plan to get surround sound soon, not sure about an HD TV, but I ma considering a DLP projector when i have the money and space for it, that would do the Xbox justice. So I am just wondering if its worth it. Most of the game sont he Xbox are also on the PC, so I could just build another computer for a media center, and it owuld likely do the same things, even more really. Tough decision.
