XBOX mod chip

I did a forum search, but I still need advice.

I want to know the best mod chip to get for an XBOX.

I would like to get involved with XBOX media center and playing games NOT on xbox live. I had live for a couple of years, never used it.

I realize the xecuter 3 is the shiznit, but do I need something that powerful for me?

ability to back up games is cool too!

I appreciate the link. Problem that I have at those sites, is well, they are experts and most things with the xbox is easy for that crew. I have been reading, but wanted some AT advice as well.

Get someone to do it for you. I paid a guy 15 bucks to softmod mine and he did it in like 10 minutes, no hassle for me.

I live in South Carolina. Where can I find a kid to do that for me. Last guy that I know (that I talk to face to face) that modded an xbox was a heart surgeon and he destroyed it.

I know I can do it, if I have good instructions (and there are great guides on line). I just want the mod chip that fits my needs.

Just get a DuoX2, it's simple, easy, reliable modchip. However, I don't like to spend money on modchips, I softmod and TSOP flash (replacing the onboard bios, similar to a modchip). Functions just as good as a modchip, but easier to do and less chance of messing up. If you want the easiest method, go to the XBE exploits section of Xbox-scene and look into installing UXE, or whatever their latest exploit may be.

You can use the xecuter 2.6 which is cheaper.

In fact any mod chip will allow you to use XBMC/XBMP Its truely a great program.

You will however lose X-box live support even if you arent a pirate.

Actually, most modchips can be disabled so you can get on Xbox Live. As long as you use the same HDD you used to get on Live before and it's locked, then you should be find. It's very possible and easy to have a modded system that can be played on Xbox Live.

Your right if you dont upgrade the hard drive you should be able to go on live. But the first time you forget to disable your done. Its an easy mistake.

I upgraded the hard drive so it could hold my MP3 collection, Pictures, and quicktime movies from my digital camera.

I have a Xenium ICE and it works like a charm modded with a 200GB HD. The mod was easy for me too because I had an Xbox 1.0 (the version really does make a difference).

It is pretty much about your preference. Do you want solderless? What features do you want? How much do you want to spend? Which Xbox version do you have?

If you can answer all of those, it should narrow it down for ya.

Dont get yourself into legal hot water.

You can mod his box with a chip but dont flash it nor put any games on it. You can however put a larger hard drive in it also without breaking any laws. This way you havent done anything illegal.

Right on. I use mine as an HTPC. 200 bucks vs. 700 for a new computer? I'll take the xbox.
