Some one offered to mod an XBOX for $115 inclusive of DVD Kit and mod chip. Geo force or something.
Is that a good deal ?
Show I mod the Xbox right away or wait and use it for some time before modding ?

no, that is a horrible deal. chips cost about $40 for a good chip, and the dvd software is freeware. the installation process itself isn't worth more than $30 IMO. i have installed plenty of these things and they are not that hard to install at all. it takes about 30 mins total from taking apart the xbox to putting it back together. the soldering part takes like 5-10 minutes.
i would not pay more than $70 if i were you to get an xbox modded. if you are in maryland, i would do it for you for $70.

I typically charge $55 for a TSOP flash/HD upgrade. Or $75-$100 for a chip install. It all depends on the situation.
Price sounds sorta high to me imo.

All sounds good until the D0 goes up in smoke. My recommendation. SOFTMOD
Dave
you suck at solder.
soldering the D0 is easy. try cordoning it off with electrical tape.
NO!, You suck at engrish and I own an SMT manufacturing business and Metcal Irons. I have fixed a ton of others botched mods. I am a fantastic solderer and my English is fantastic. You should be careful what words you let fly,and by the way. Softmod is the only way to fly. Cost=$0.00 and the end result is exactly that of a modchip. Hard disk access!! Why spend $20 or $25 and run the risk of damage when you don't have too.
Thanks for your comments.
Dave
For the average person soldering is a delicate task which will invariably end in tears, especially on the newer XBoxes. I greatly preffer the Xecuter 2.3+ with the "pushpin" style (Puyo-Pins) inputs. (Provided you don't have a v1.6+ XBox.) And before all the Puyo-haters come out of the woodwork, kiss my hairy yellow butt; I have been using an Xecuter 2.3B+ for a full year now and have never had a problem with it, ever. Ever. Installing it was a breeze, albeit somewhat different than what the installation instructions indicated I should expect. You can solder in the modchip in 5 minutes easily. It's not too hard.
