Forza 5? Forza Horizon 2? Titanfall? Halo MCC? Killer Instinct? Sunset Overdrive? Have you been under a rock for the past year? There's only one obvious fanboy in this thread.

nope ... we are the trolls in here, remember?

Forza was half a game with tons of micro-transactions. Has a 5.7 User score on metacritic, because it's an incredibly polarizing title. Also niche sim-racer category. Titanfall wasn't exclusive, in that it released on PC as well, and ran quite a bit better on most mid-range rigs.... Killer Instinct and Sunset Overdrive were mediocre titles, releasing to an overall meh. Killer Instinct also having the troublesome micro-transactions, while having a much smaller competitive following than some of the other fighters released recently.

Xbox One players have been mostly playing third party multi-platform stuff, like Dying Light... and it's not a bad platform for that, actually, despite being a little weaker than the PS4. At $350, it's an inexpensive way to get into playing these multiplatform games. This year though, there's some stuff in the pipe that might change the situation, where Xbox might actually have some strong exclusives. Halo Guardians, Quantum Break, and Fable Legends, all seem like they have the potential to be heavy hitters. We'll see, hopefully lessons were learned from MCC.

Edit: Ah yeah, and there's the Windows 10 streaming thing. That looks cool.

I'm glad I waited.

Hopefully Forza 6 will be a substantial step up from 5 in sheer content. I'm looking forward to it.

i'm going to go play killer instinct for a couple hours right now and just be sad the whole time thinking about how the price of the x1 has dropped $150 since i purchased it on launch date and because the ps4 that i have sitting right next to it was $500 cheaper than the xbox1, even though i have not turned it on in literally about a year.

poor me i have it so bad with this shitty console

I still am not interested in either X1 or PS4. I am actually starting to get somewhat interested in the Wii U though...

I keep holding out thinking something will blow me away on these 'next gen' machines. Just isn't happening yet. Then again, seriously way too many games to play these days :/

2014 was a rather slow year for great games, especially compared to the past several, so it made the first full year of "next gen: ownership rather ho hum.
That combined with that initial "hangover" period in near-launch games that (usually because they're also developed for previous generation hardware) feel like a slight bump over the previous gen. :\

Here's hoping for more from 2015.

This year we should be getting a new uncharted among other titles including halo 5 that are going to show more of what the consoles can do.

Of course, that is subjective. I have found more than enough games to keep me busy. But yeah, I can see where others don't feel the same way.

yeah i literally played 3 games in 2014 - killer instinct, forza horizon 2, and geometry wars 3.

well i guess 4 since i hooked up my 360 again to play sf4, then quickly realized how terrible the netcode is on it after playing ki.

Hmm, another should I buy thread. You shouldn't buy because if you don't seem interested in the games, trying to save $50 on the console doesn't matter.

I ended up with one because I got a nice deal and would have eventually bought one at one point. But for the price I got it for I couldn't say no. Everyone knows technology decreases in value over time as do many other items.

Its normal that some people will have remorse while others won't care. I bought the ps4 at launch and have been using it since. I didn't want the kinnect but now I realize that even if I had the xbox at launch I would have been happy with it due to the media features the ps4 can't support yet, I've found out I use it a lot for that type of stuff.

If you want something you buy it when it's out..if you get remorse over the fact that it has decreased value then you've probably lost interest in the item. I can totally see its a possibility for some people but its subjective. Most techies don't care about that and are all about the latest gadgets right when they come out.

If you get remorse often its probably a good idea to wait until you can justify the purchase on your own terms based on how you will get enjoyment from it.

I really considered an Xbox One. Then I realized i can buy an Xbox One controller for my PC. All the games I want are on Steam, so yea...no Xbox for me.

Either way, my wife banishes me to the ManCave when I want to play games, so I guess an Xbox would be better if you're into having friends over playing on the TV or something like that

You should get an Xbox 360 wireless controller + USB wireless dongle for the PC. Xbox One controller only supports a wired connection. Nice to not have a leash.

Yeah, but at the same time, that wireless dongle costs a decent bit more, no? Plus, the Xbox One PC controller comes with an 8- or 9-foot cable, so you're really not tethered close to anything, unless you're talking playing on an HTPC in a living room, from a couch. I personally have my PC in my room, where the tower's only a couple of feet from where I sit and play, and I'd prefer the superior controller as a result.

I dont remember my Xbox 1 controller coming with a cable. I do remember getting one that's very long with the play and charge kit.

It comes with a short 4-inch cable for firmware updates...the longer cable comes with the play and charge kit.

The One's controller does not. However, they sell a special PC version of the controller for $60 that comes with the cable, though IDK if it comes with any batteries (either the Play & Charge's battery or the standard AA's).

Neither of my One controllers came with a cable (one with the console, other the Titanfall one).

The 4 inch cable comes with the console. Unless you buy the console with the rechargeable batter, no long USB cable do you get.

I was really only playing my ps4 so i traded my Xbox one for another ps4 and sold it to my buddy for $350, i used that money to pay off my TV that i bought last march.

I will buy another Xbox one around Christmas this year. My 2 best friends play cod zombies on Xbox and i miss playing treyarch zombies. I'm hoping I can get the system for $300 with some game or games included

I don't think MS sells the receiver as a stand alone product anymore. If you already have a 360 controller third party knock offs or receivers pulled from bundles (if you trust that) are available between $10-20. Otherwise, a legit MS controller and receiver bundle is $42, which is less than an Xbox One controller.

Another thing to consider is that the 360 controller is pretty much the de facto standard for PC gaming controllers, and mine has worked out of the box flawlessly for every game that supports a controller. I doubt you would have any issues with button mapping with an Xbox One controller either, but the rumble/force feedback protocol has changed on the One so it might not be as 100% on games that were designed to support the 360 controller. Both would most likely give you a great experience, but the 360 wireless controller is cheaper and well, wireless...

Hey, so I am close to biting on a xbox one for around 300 dollars. My question is if there isn't any particular game that Im dying to play, is it worth it to wait for the next version of the console to come out? Like a slim version or a die shrink etc? I tried doing some research on it but came up short.

If there isn't any console update anytime soon then I'll just buy it now since I doubt the price will drop below 300 anytime soon.

I'm wondering if Microsoft intends to continue with the Xbox One without ever updating the hardware via revision to support HEVC/HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 so it can support 4K streaming. Plus, at the same time, Blu-ray 4K is coming out this year which also needs those standards. Good chance Sony will be updating the PS4 to support those as well and MS doesn't want to seem behind. So will that new version come out this holiday? Or perhaps E3 2016? Pair it with a 20nm die shrink? It's all plausible.

worrying about 4k right now is kinda pointless anyways.

they can hardly even get games running at 1080p @ 60fps right now and people are concerned with 4k compatibility?

if you are talking about movies, then i guess, yeah okay. but even that is a VERY small subset of an already small videophile community.
