XBox One X and 1080p

I was wondering if XBox One games that will be native 4k designed to take advantage of the XBox One X will run at a higher frame rate if I'm using a 1080P TV? I know on PC games you can select a lower resolution in the game and you end up getting a higher frame rate but it won't work that way on XBox One X when using a 1080p TV?

I will basically get the same frame rates on the XBox One X on a 4k rendered game in 4k and 1080p screen?

I am confused as to what you are asking, but you aren't going to get 4K on a 1080p screen.

It kind of sounds like you are asking if the game is going to render internally at 4k then downscale to 1080p, which it's not.

Your frame rates are still gonna be limited, even with the increased horsepower.

If a game is native 4k, not all games are by the way, it will be downsampled to 1080p. The frame rate is locked to whatever the developer decides. On the PS4 Pro for example some games let you unlock the frame rate at 1080p or set it to 60fps. At 4k the game is 30fps.

I think the maximum frame rate will be 60fps for most games even if it's sent to a 1080p display. Take Forza 7 for example, it runs at 60fps on the XBox One X whether it's at 4k or 1080p.

It all depends on what the developer. Take Shadow of War, it's 30fps no matter what.

If it's anything like the PS Pro, they will offer different options and it's up to the developer how they want to take advantage of the horsepower. Some options are 1080p high quality, 1080p high performance, 4k high quality and 4k high performance.
