CaptianScooby:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

- What kind of computer do you have now?

- Does it do everything you need it to do?

- If your current PC can do what you need it to do, then get an X-box.

Yes, HALO is awesome!!!

After doing a bunch of research and reading reviews, if I had to get a game systems today, I would get a PS2.

Good Luck!

With that kind of cash, buy both. Hell, if you look around the Hot Deals forum you may be able to swing a decent computer upgrade, a new XBOX AND a new Sony Vega to show off that XBOX

Get both dude, computers are great but if you are into gaming, consoles are the way to go, simply because there are more hit games that you just have more fun with, especialy when it comes to having fun with friends. I personaly have a PS2 and an Athlon XP 1800+ with Elsa Gladiac GF3 and I hardly *EVER* play games on my comp anymore. RTCW sucks, AvP2 sucks, Unreal Tourny is fun but repetitive, old and for the most part pointless. The only games I still play are comand and conquer, counter strike(f*ckin awsome) and Mech Warrior 4 when im in the mood for blowing stuff up. I have a slew of other hit PC games but none of them can hold my interst for very long. Overall computer gaming is stale right now, and mostly repetitive. Maybe when Unreal 2 and the new Quake come out, we'll see a resurgence in computer gaming. But honestly, how can any computer game compare to MGS2, GTA3, NBA Street, GT3, Kengo: Master Of Bushido. There is one game for the comp that im in love with called Emporror: Battle For Dune, best PC game I've ever played. Get the X-Box, you'll find in time that it was/is a VERY good entertainment investment.

Thats only true to some extent! Basically it comes down to what gaming genre you like.

If you like: Wargaming, rts, rpg's (PC style), FPS, mmorpg's than get a computer. As the Xbox isn't getting RTCW, DOOM 3, Age of Mythology, DAoC and Planetside.
- Also if you like downloading all the user made mods out on the internet than get a computer.

If you like: Sports gaming, rpg's (console style), fighting and boxing games, racing games, and action gaming get a console.

Also, it sounds like your young so I would get a console if I were you. I'm in college, so I need a computer to do papers, research, etc... My computer just doubles as an entertainment center also.

"MGS2, GTA3, NBA Street, GT3, Kengo: Master Of Bushido."

Hey, that's your opinion. With the exception of MGS2, I don't care if I never play any of those titles.

I'm waiting on:

Dues Ex2
NOLF 2
Unreal 2
DOOM 3
Planetside
AOM

Yea, I know there all sequals but what can you do

XBOX is getting Doom 3, and the new Unreal called Unreal Championship.

The capability exists for Xbox modifications, due to its built-in hard drive and broadband capabilities.

Show me a link that says that the Xbox is getting DOOM 3!! Maybe it is, but I doubt it.

Oh, and I've seen Unreal Championship over at www.firingsquad.com and me and most of the peeps over on that message board weren't too impressed. The screen shots were dark as hell and were fuzzy. But that's my opinion.

And the mod scene is a big maybe for the Xbox. Microsoft has said time and time again that the Xbox is NOT A PC, so don't look for any Mods of any sort. Mods are probably not going to happen. And this comes straight from game publications and Microsoft itself. That's why your not going to see a keyboard/mouse setup.

We'll have to wait and see.....

I still say both, but if you really want to go with one or the other I would suggest the computer. No console will ever have a game library as large as the PC does. Plus, a mouse gives you so much more control for FPS games or anything else which requires quick movement of the cursor.

If you are all into gaming, then go for xbox.
If you like to browse internet, burn cds, do school projects or watch p0rn, then go for computer.

It has been stated that a primary reason for the inclusion of a hard drive and broadband capabilites would be for downloadable content for games. This would include patches for MMORPGs, additional cars for racing games, etc. So it is forseeable that modifications could be used on the XBOX.

Go here for proof that Doom3 is on its way. TeamXBOX is a very reliable site, so I think Doom3 will wind up on XBOX eventually.

Also, dark and fuzzy screenshots are in no way indicative of the quality of a game. Look for in-game movies or hands-on impressions from reliable gaming sites (IGN.com, TeamXBOX, GameSpot) before you judge a game. And never base you judgement of a game or system on a fuzzy screenshot.

you can get a computer, xbox, or both. If you have a decent computer, go with the xbox and/or ps2. xbox for DOA3 and HALO, PS2 for it's wide variety of games and promising future. If you have a computer that you'd think need upgrading, go with the computer. The computer takes priority over consoles in my book, but if the computer is up to date, i'd definately buy a console.

if you're a hard-core gamer and love tweaking your games, the pc is the best platform. If you like playing multi-player games, or are used to game pads, then the xbox might be more for you. Nice thing about xbox games, is that you know for certain that they'll work; sometimes if you have a moderately "off" system (slightly non-standard components) you could have compatability problems that force you into problem solving.

We have both and I still prefer the pc, while the kids prefer the xbox; though it is fun to play. Maybe when more games get out and I spend more time on it I'll change my mind but for right now since I'm into gaming, the pc is best for me. hope this helps.

Do you currently have a PC? If you do, I'd upgrade that one and get an Xbox. If you don't, you might get more functionality out of a computer. Good luck.
