Starting on Dec. 4, all Xbox LIVE members will receive a free system update with a host of new features and enhancements. Included in this update will be the launch of Xbox Originals, which, for the first time, will enable consumers to download and own full Xbox games, such as "Halo," "Psychonauts," "Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge" and "Fable," among others, directly to their Xbox 360. This new service will launch with an array of blockbuster titles spanning the most popular genres from action-adventure to classic role-playing games.

With no disc necessary, and at just 1,200 Microsoft Points per game, Xbox LIVE members can easily rediscover these hit titles, or check out a game they missed the first time around. This launch lineup is only the beginning, as Xbox 360 owners can expect to see a growing catalog of Xbox games to download and own over the coming year.

IGN alleged that Psychonaughts is also in that list.

Also, places have said December 2nd, others have said December 4th.

If they were to add online multiplayer functionality to the original Halo, then you could stick your saved $5 up your ass . I wonder how badly that would canabilize Halo 3 player matches if they did do something like this? All the diehards would go back to Halo 1 just so they could shoot people with a scoped pistol all the time.

Microsoft plans on re-releasing as many Xbox 1 titles as possible through Marketplace. Look out, Virtual Console.

Meh, unless you have the 120GB HD you're going to be SOL if you try and wrack up a bunch of XBox1 games

of course for those of us with an already modded Xbox1...

would be really cool if they would actually make changes, say add in online multiplayer for Halo1

Hey, if they add in achievements or anything like that, I would gladly pay an extra $5 for older titles. I'd love to replay JSRF and get some achievements for it

Yeah, look out virtual console! The fact that you provide games from the past 20 years means nothing!

Edit: But really, that's awesome. I sold all of my Xbox 1 games long ago. Now I won't have to hunt some of them down.

Fable, Indigo Prophecy, Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath Of Cortex, Burnout 3, Halo: Combat Evolved.

That's a pretty danged good list of initial games. Fable, Crimson Skies, and Halo really make it.

Fantastic idea. Can't wait to see what they do with it.

This is going to drive me and many others into getting a 120GB HDD...

QFT.

Storage space is going to be as scarce as on the wii.

I've been hovering at about 6gb for a while now, but you're right, you'll need a 120gb to get any real life out of this. I wanted to get one anyways, but probably will try and get my parents to pick up the tab this holiday.

Well, most Xbox games were of the 4.7GB and less variety (one DVD layer). I wonder if MS will be able to work any of their compression magic to make it even smaller.

The good news is that once you purchase something, you own it for life. So you can delete it from your HDD and download it again later.

wow if they make it so that Halo:CE is playable on Xbox Live somehow, that is going to be one smashing hit.

I've been tempted to buy some of these titles since I never owned an Xbox. This could be huge if they add Xbox Live support, Achievements, and/or 16x9 support. It would also finally give me a reason to desire that overpriced 120GB drive. Man, this really is a great season for gamers.

sounds good but $15 is way overpriced. hell, even some 360 games are down to around $15.

A much better price point would have been $5, considering they aren't even creating a new game.

If they improve them with achievements and higher resolutions, that'd be nice like R Nilla said.

But I think most Xbox games (other than Halo and Halo 2) can be had for less than $15 used. And my 20 GB hard drive is not going to hold many of these games. Maybe if the assholes at MS would let me use my own damn hard drive. No way in hell I'm paying $180 for theirs.

A true Halo 1 3 shotter rarely uses their scope with the pistol. Scope is for n00bs.

That being said - I still own Halo 1...unless there's multiplayer or some kind of achievements, it ain't worth it.

I guess the big question now is, are they going to drop the price of XBLA titles at all?

You make me laugh!

Well, look at Puzzle Quest, it was $15 on XBLA... Do I buy that, or do I buy a couple million dollar budget title from years past?

Well, Puzzle Quest is $30 on the Wii and $20 on the DS, PS2 and PSP. $15 for that particular game is pretty good. Especially when it is considered the best version around.

Most XBLA titles are $5 for retro games and $10 for new XBLA games. Games like Puzzle Quest are the exception and are priced at $15.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for it to happen and you can even build a logical argument as to why it should happen. I'd just be very surprised.
