XBOX owners alert!!

I'm sure you all already know this, in case you don't, the xbox will only process DD signals if you use the MS external AV packs, unless I'm doing something completely wrong that is. The Monster cables that I used, and I used all three, the composite, svideo and component, with the fiber link cable, none of them work. Apparently the external AV packs have something in them that tell the xbox to process DD signals. Short: if you want an xobx and you want DD signals, get the MS external AV pack to get that output.

If you used the Monster Cables that were designed specifically for the Xbox, you should have no problem. Make sure the game you are playing actually supports DD. Also check your settings in the dashboard, and make sure DD and DTS (if your receiver supports it) are enabled.

Make sure all your connections to your receiver from the xbox are correct. When you hook up the TOSLINK do you not get ANY sound? Or do you still get stereo? Another thing you could try is hooking the fiber cable to the xbox and turning the xbox on. Unplug the receiver end of the fiber cable. Do you see the red laser?

I'm almost positive Monster Cable wouldnt sell a High Def AV set for the xbox if it wasnt actually compatible.

In monster cables defense, I'm no stereo guru! That being said, I tested everything possible from the XBOX back. Everything checked out just fine. And yes, I could see the red laser. I also isolated that optic cable in an attempt to make it the only medium from which the xbox could process audio. Viola...pro logic worked fine. Where I seem to have problems is in the dashboard selection screen. Unless I'm using the external AV pack, my xbox won't recegonize any form of digital processing media. It is possible that I have a bad Monster AV cable, however, as I understand their QC is about the best in the business. But, freak things do happen. The information I got below was from the 800-4my-xbox. Granted those guys are probably a bunch of "washout basket weavers" or future brain surgeons that have no idea about the "techie" parts of the box. But they seem to have a pretty substantial database of common problems, and it just so happens that mine fell right in the crack.
