XBox Price Drop Down to $150 in April

Retailers have been notified of price drops on both PS2 and XBox to $149.. I saw the TransWorld memo myself at the local Coconuts store...

Has anyone here hacked thier Xbox to be a HTPC device?

I've been trying to price out some options to build a HTPC, but am not sure if I should go for a cheap Xbox, or build a full-featured HTPC. One idea I have for a HTPC is to build a full-tower machine so that I can pack it full of hard drives for extra storage.

Can the Xbox be modded so that you can stream audio/video from a PC server?

anybody know if just straight unmodded japanese xboxes can play with live? i really hate that jet future is only dubbed, and last december i saw new xboxes for $125 anyway

Do you think this Gateway DVD player with 802.11g is as good/better than an a modded Xbox?

Seems like it might be easier, although it might not be able to play all the formats a PC/xbox could play.

I have the Gateway 802.11b version and love it ... I haven't had a bit of trouble streaming divx, xvid, mpg movies. However, short PRON and other internet clips tend to not stream well. If you head over DVDRhelp.com and check out their player compatibility you'll see more info on it. I don't have an xbox but I would assume that it would play more formats. It really depends if you find it simplier to not hassle with the mod or not.
