Xbox question - memory

I'm trying to decide between an xbox 360 and ps3, but I'm leaning toward xbox since my friend has one and we can share games.

I'll play games like Skyrim and other games with DLC. Will 4gb version be enough? Their 250gb version is a ripoff and there's nothing in between. It seems like I can install 3rd party HDs to the 4gb version if I need to?

Sorry for the question you guys have probably seen before. I've just seen so much conflicting stuff on the internet about these two questions.

The 4GB version might work if you use 16GB USB thumb drives, but I've never tried that. Installing a HD is a bit more complicated since you can only use specific drives, and you need the mounting hardware. It's also not supported by MS.

Get a Black Friday deal on the 250 GB. Being able to install games to the hard drive speeds up loading new areas, and on some 360's like mine the DVD drive is really loud and annoying -- if you don't have the HD install it will run all of the time.

Third party drives are not licensed or supported by MS, so they might or might not work well for you.

You can use flash drives for storage.

I think the 4gb version will be fine. The install to HDD feature (for me anyway) is only good for protecting your disc's from scratching, load times are not much of an issue for me. I have a launch 360 though, the newer ones have much better disc drives.

the best thing that you can do is buy the 4gb model and then buy the 320gb hard drive in addition. you will spend just about the same amount as you would if you bought the 250gb one but you will have the extra space with the bigger hdd.
