Sony-made MLB The Show 21 is coming to Xbox Game Pass at launch

"What makes Friday's announcement surprising, however, is that unlike those titles, The Show 21 is made by Microsoft-rival Sony's PlayStation Studios. With the ability to get it on Game Pass, the new game is more widely accessible on Xbox than it is on Sony's own PlayStation 4 and PS5. The addition of Cloud Gaming support also means that, at least for now, the only way to play The Show 21 on the go appears to be on Xbox as Sony has long ceased making its own portable consoles, such as the PlayStation Portable and PS Vita."

Color me surprised Sony would do this. This is awesome thought because I can get it for free from GamePass and not have to purchase it for the PS5.

Published by MLB on Xbox. Sony probably had little to do with this decision. Not particularly interested in sports games, but might check it out.

I am curious to see what will happen with Deathloop on PC. Day 1 gamepass?

Squadrons on Gamepass is perfect. A game I definitely wanted to try, and I definitely wanted the big screen feel for it.

Definitely had pulled my old joystick out of storage to play on PC but it's so easy for my son and I to switch profiles and play it on the Xbox I don't see that happening.

Oh Tie Fighter, I remember you with so much love and nostalgia.

After seeing the MS/Bethesda "conference" yesterday, I'm starting to question why I have an XSX. There is nothing that I saw that interests me other than Halo, and even Halo doesn't really get me excited. I wanted to see some single player Halo footage too and they did not show any. I was a bit surprised by that.

This overview makes Halo Infinite multiplayer seem more interesting than the trailer they showed yesterday.

I feel like that's most games these days. I'm not sure if i'm just finally aging out of games, or they've just been lackluster this past gen. It's hard to get excited about everything I've seen this year.

For me it's just because it is more of the same.

Forza, Horizon, Battlefield, Bethesda style games, Halo, etc. It seems like it's always sequels and/or genres I just don't care about. And the sequels just don't change much and use the same old formula. It just doesn't get me excited.

I think this game looked the coolest of all the games I saw yesterday in that stream.

While not an Xbox-only game, I started playing some It Takes Two the other night, and it's a bit of a fun adventure. One nice aspect of the game -- especially if you're looking to play with someone that may not be as game savvy -- is that you don't really have a concept of lives in the game. So, if you fail to make a jump correctly, you aren't really penalized for it. Although, it does seem that if you both die at the same time during a scripted event where you have a health bar, you will have to start the event over. (You can come back just by mashing the Y button.)

For me it's just because it is more of the same.

I thought it was interesting that Forza Horizon 5 will have the ability to generate your own game modes. I don't know if that would necessarily make me want to play it, but I do think it's cool to promote player ingenuity. I mean... heck... one of the most popular games in the world, League of Legends, was created from a user-created mod for WarCraft III.

Pretty sure I just got a series x just to get one in case there were some cool games I wanted to play in the future.

I agree, this year is pretty lame with titles. I'm not even a big halo fan. I remember I originally got Xbox one for a few titles like sunset overdrive, quantum break, and that ryse.

I can't at all understand how the reaction to that press conference was so positive. No Starfield gameplay, no Hellblade 2 nothing, no Halo gameplay, no new Fallout, instead a segment about the failed Fallout 76, man that show felt like a case of quantity over quality. There was so little gameplay shown period, it was always quick flash to gameplay quick flash to another scene a second later when you actually saw gameplay other than Forza. I did think it was pretty funny when Obsidian did that trailer shitting on the XBox presentation. But JFC seeing the studios Microsoft has now and seeing very little I wanted to play was disappointing as hell. The only two things that looked any good to me were Age of Empires 4 and that Top Gun DLC for MS Flight Simulator. That E3 presentation sucked and it was the one I was looking forward to most. But I should have remembered that's how XBox does all their E3: a barrage of uninteresting crap in between boring cutscene trailers for the games that might actually be good.

I think outside of Nintendo, and Sony if they ever come back, I am done ever watching any of these E3 presentations.

I haven't really heard any praise about it.

That has always been the knock on MS conference though. Their trailers are like 99% cinematics without gameplay. Sony even poked fun at them for that stating how they were ONLY showing gameplay.

I agree too though - flight simulator was the coolest thing in the entire conference lol. I don't think I'd ever buy it because it would be boring probably pretty quick, but damn it looked pretty. Those scenes showing them flying into the beach areas and over Bora Bora I think it was, was pretty awesome.

Really surprised they showed zero gameplay of Halo campaign mode. I also am finding it odd how it appears Halo Infinite is 2 completely separate games - the free to play multiplayer, and then a separate campaign. Overall I'm just not a fan of the direction MS is going with the industry and haven't since Gamepass became a thing. Perhaps this will be my last Xbox console, if they even release another one since it sounds like they are going towards only game streaming, something I will have no part of.

Yeah I pretty much got it because that's just what I do - buy consoles at launch lol. I know there will eventually be one game I want to play and I'll have it at that point to play it. So far though that one game isn't one I know of yet.

Forza Horizon 5 looks like a title finally worthy of the XBox Series X hardware, but I'll probably try playing it on my gaming PC first. That's one of the nice things about Microsoft Game Pass, it's multi-platform.

I’m disappointed that the first Forza game for series x is horizon. I might be a minority but I like the more track racing oriented titles in the series.

Yeah for me, everything good is 2022 and beyond.

I will of course play halo but I’m not really excited or anything. Not yet anyway.

You guys are weird, I though the show was very good. /shrug

Looking forward to FH5, it looks great, always have a good time driving around in that game. A lot of the smaller games they showed look interesting, like Somerville and Replaced.

Halo multiplayer overview. Looks like they fixed all the visual issues that the reveal a year ago had.

Halo Infinite | Multiplayer Overview - YouTube

There is supposed to be an extra event on Thursday covering some games that were missed.

uh yeah. That looks sick. I am so excited now for Halo Infinite seeing how much effort they are putting into the MP.

For me, I mostly only play MP shooters. So this year and next for me will be continuing to play Apex Legends, but then splitting time with BF 2042 and Halo Infinite. This is why I am getting a Series X over a PS5. SP games don't do it for me much, save an occasional one here or there. I was really unsure about Halo, though overall optimistic - but this trailer gives me great confidence it is going to be quite good, and maybe almost epic. I haven't found another MP AAA title that is console exclusive that can sway my decision to go with the XBox over the PS5 as of now. Halo now just looks too damn good.

I expected more gameplay shown. Actual game footage since now we have ray tracing and stuff to make the game look more like the CG trailers.

That does make Halo look better, I’m not an MP player any longer but I’ll be buying it.

Don’t get me wrong they showed some cool stuff but I am not a fan of Forza horizon as much as Forza Motorsport because I feel that horizon suffers from the same thing most open world games do, it becomes a case of going to points on the map and having “too much” to do. Get burnt out on it. MS Flight Sim looked pretty cool and my girlfriend expressed some interest in it since it seems casual and you can fly over exotic locations etc. I want to see what they do with the top gun expansion myself.

Microsoft is making an xCloud client for the XBone.

I'm stunned that we don't already have an "XBone streaming stick" that lets you connect to xCloud from any TV and an Internet connection. I figured that would have come out with the new console releases.

They are working on that already, it's just not out now.

And once that happens, I will officially be out on MS as far as gaming goes, assuming the don't also offer a stand alone console. I'm already kind of one foot out the door with them as is just based on the software coming out for XSX, or should I say, the X1 games that I can play on my XSX for the next year or so. We still don't really know what an XSX exclusive game can and will look like.

I kinda like having the option of being able to buy or "rent" the new console, especially because they're hard to find right now.

The streaming stick could also offer an option to play games installed on an XBox Series X/S in another room if they decided to offer that option. You know, kinda like Steam does.
