I like playing console games. I think nothing can beat the ease of just popping in a game and knowing that it will load and play correctly right from the moment you stick that disk in. pc games obviously offer a better online experience with entire communites complete with mods and servers. but that's quickly changing too with xbox live and online enabled ps2 games.

there are many pros and cons with playing games on both the pc and the console. imo, the main thing that holds gamers away from the pc is the ultimate lack in the variety of games on the pc platform. just check out the gaming magazines and you'll find that 80 percent of all reviewed or previewed games are on upcoming fps shooters. worse, they're almost all based on wwi or ii which has been done to deathhhhhh.

No way any consoles will compete with the PC. Ever.

I play PC games looking beautiful in high resolutions, running over 90FPS and its just stunning. I get on and play xbox (even on a hdtv) or any console for that matter, and it looks like crap and takes some getting used to 640x480, and 30fps with framedrops.

Consoles are great, dont get me wrong, but graphically they just can NOT compete.

Macs are the perfect gaming machines. Great image quality and resolution, simple installation, plug n play and no viruses or crashes to worry about. That and the fact that they are the most powerful desktops available make it the ultimate gaming solution.

Like anything, people who only own one platform usually like to bash others. People who own multiple platforms usually just enjoy the different aspects and qualities. It's same for PC and Mac. CRT and LCD. Same for PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, and PC gamers.

I used to love games. Didn't care what platform it was on. I'm not a big gamer anymore but I still enjoy a good game now and then regardless of the platform. Own countless consoles and games like PS2, Gamecube, Dreamcast, Saturn, N64, PS, Genesis, SNES, Nomad, Gameboy, Color Gameboy, Virtual Boy, Neo Geo Pocket, and NES and over 1000+ domestic and import games along with couple modern gaming PCs. PCs have some good games. So does consoles. By limiting yourself to one platform, you're missing out whether you admit it or not.

I knew I wasn't the only one who "gets it".

Btw... My friends and I had some extra time on our break today. So, we went over to one guy's house and played some Xbox. Think we could've done that with PC's? Not hardly feasible.

I don't own an LCD and don't bash them... I don't own a Mac and don't bash them either. Funny to see someone ignore everything I've typed to call me a hater, people never cease to amaze me.

My XBox is collecting dust and has been since I finished Halo. IMO a PC wins out over a console unless you're talking about getting a few friends together and playing a sports game or something. The only XBox title I'm looking forward to is Halo2 and I don't even know if I'll buy it.

My Xbox plays Divx files - in fact it can do anything a pc can if I installed linux too.

Then again the Xbox is not just a console - its a PC thats thinks its a console.

You just need to retrain it to think bigger by hacking it

It is definitely time you hacked your Xbox in that case then!

Get MameOx installed and relive your youth - when you get fed up with that you can watch Divx/Xvid movies on it and then let the dust settle once more.

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't see the point. There's set top DVD players that will do Divx and even then you're talking about reduced quality compared to the real DVD. I really don't have a desire to play any of the old games either. I mean, we've got awesome new games. Why play the classics when HL2 is coming out in a few weeks? Just not worth it in my opinion. I'm probably going to sell my XBox, games, and xtra controller to my bro for $100.

Let's see, maybe because those people don't care about games, or play games dumbed down to it, OR play fighting games.

I am a very casual gamer and I dont really have time nor the money to have consoles and a nice PC gaming set-up. I may spend a few months out of the year playing a few different games and thats about it.

That being said , I am considering taking back my most recent $$ game card , a 6800 OC ~$250 and buying an Xbox package.

Its been quite a number of years since I have even played a console game much less looked at one. Do the graphics really suck that bad compared to a modern PC game like Farcry or Doom 3?

I noticed alot of Xbox games are 480P or 1080i, this must do something for image quality , no?

I guess I need to just go demo an Xbox at my local ToysRus or Best Buy and make my own conclusion.

My biggest pet peeve with PC games is the bugs and amount of work I have to go thru to get a game going nicely.

Most every Xbox game is 480P... There are very few (like 3 or 4) games that support 1080i.

Are the graphics so bad? Of course not.

Take a look at the games. If there are games on the Xbox that looks like fun to you, then go for it. If at all possible... Get a cheaper (but still very sufficient) video card, and have your cake and eat it too.

My opinion is that the XBox can be modded to your heart's content. I love my modded XBox. I can play iso files, .bin files, svcds, vcds, divx, anything and everything. It's amazing!
