PS3 console looks fugly...so does the XBOX 360, the Revolution looks nice and sleek. I actually liked the PS2 design the best from the current generation of consoles.

I like the slim-line the best. So small and sleek. But of all consoles, I like my old Panasonic 3DO design. Sliding CD tray, very durable. You could drop it and nothing broke (happened many times), you could put stuff on it. The first PS2 also had a sliding tray but the system felt chinzy. Trays would break, the front bezel on everyone I know who has an older PS2 is missing the bezel. But the slim model is very cool. When I get my PS3 im gonna get a laptop tv-tuner card, some velcro, and attach my slim PS2 to my laptop for portable PS2 fun!

Sony on the other hand promises your epenis size will grow by 6 inches if you buy their system. Sony's game division has overhyped their PS2 before. It's not even that much more powerful than Nintendo's Gamecube

Mhz stats prove nothing, though I'm not even sure why you listed it. You're on a computer hardware forum and should know AMD > Intel when it comes to mhz vs mhz. Some systems are designed more efficiently and while the tech stats look weaker, it's actually more powerful.

In terms of the games developed and what developers were able to do with the hardware where there are cross platform games or games in similar genres, graphics are similar in terms of overall quality. Gameplay wise it's all up to the developers of course, you can have crap graphics and awesome gamplay or great graphics and crap gameplay.

Sony has hyped the PS2 and now the PS3 to heck and back. The way Sony hyped the PS2 and now the PS3, it's suppose to be super duper extra zany powerful. Again, I'm not saying the PS2 is a weak system compared to Gamecube and Xbox. In fact, I rank the power rating as Xbox, PS2, Gamecube. However, after all the hype and technical stats have been stripped away, when you compare the games that are on each system, the PS2 has not wowed me with games that would take a serious graphics hit if ported to Gamecube or Xbox. Look at most of the multi-console games and they all look remarkably similar.

Like I said, I own all three current generation game consoles and will likely own all of the next ones. My take is that all 3 systems will perform remarkably similar just as they do in this generation. Just as they did with the SNES and Genesis.

Sony is my least favorite company in the way they operate due to all the massive hype. And I still say if you still believe all the Sony hype without reservation and that the other systems are going to suck compared to the PS3, you're nothing but a fanboy.

Based on what we know now - which certainly isn't everything - a 360....but NOT at launch.

If I've learned one thing from buying a Dreamcast and XBox on launch day/eve, it's WAIT. As long as it's not a "first place" console, they'll drop the price in 6 months, maybe less if the PS3 comes out ahead of schedule (yeah, right).

I'm not a fan of how MS is handling this one, with their two different setups and non-mandatory hard drive, but I'm willing to give it a shot...for now. Still, this seems like a step sideways instead of a step forward. Aside from the raw power of the system, there's really nothing new to it for me. Nothing with the 360 impresses me as much as the original XBox did when it comes to trying new things and nudging the industry forward. I guess that's to be expected since a chunk of the people who worked on the original XBox are now gone, and the only guy I recognize is that bald doofus who looks like he'd rather be surfing or watching MTV2.

Was never a big PS fan. Owned a PS1, didn't pick up a PS2 and didn't miss it. No, I don't think it "sucks" but I just never felt like I needed to own one. Nintendo does good work, but with me I usually only like to have one system per generation, so Nintendo usually loses out. Since my NES and Game Boy Xmas-es in the late 80's, I've owned a Genesis, Sega CD, Saturn, Dreamcast - still my favorite system ever, however short-lived it may have been - and XBox.

What's to copy? $300 is the price point at which the enthusiast and hardcore gamers will buy a console. $150-200 is the price at which the mainstream will buy a console and below $100 is when the non-gamers and casual folks will buy a console. Saw it in a study somewhere. Unfortunately I don't recall the link to it.

I stand by my opinion that Sony, while it's products aren't that bad for the most part, they are usuallyway overhyped and overpriced. Many times their products are not worth the money when you can get similar quality from elsewhere. Nothing you've posted has really changed my opinion. Don't say the games on the PS2 because aside from Gran Turismo, what games does Sony produce from their own studios that is a grade A game. Hardware wise the PS2 was different and certainly not weak for it's generation of consoles but it wasn't 8x more powerful than a PC at that time and it certainly wasn't heads and tails more powerful than the Gamecube.

As far as their electronics go, the quality of most of their products is middle of the line for the most part. Some exceptions would be the WEGA brand which, while good, is overpriced. Their pro cameras are excellent but it's not for general consumers. Some of their recent MP3 players had buttons that broke due to crap design. The PSP had massive dead pixel problems, not to mention that button getting stuck. The first generation PS1 (bad cd drive, had to play mine upside down or it wouldn't read discs) and PS2 (dvd drive died) also had quality issues.

One major annoyance with Sony is their g*d d@mned insistence on creating proprietary formats to those already available so they can lock you into their claws and milk you for money until their tactics invariably fail (Atrac, Memory Stick, UMD off top of head).

All in all, I'd say that Sony is mostly living off past reputation and hasn't really produced much that is innovative or superb in quality.

Furthermore THE SONY CORPORATION HAS BEEN PROVEN IN COURT TO HAVE LIED TO THEIR CUSTOMERS AND WERE FORCED TO GIVE BACK MONEY TO THEIR CUSTOMERS BECAUSE OF THE LIES AND YET FANBOYS STILL SWALLOW THE CRAP SONY FEEDS THEM AND SMILE?
