You need to visit ign.com and check out some of their info on Gears of War. As one who went to E3 and *played* a number of XBox 360 games, I can tell you that yes, the system *is* "WOW!" and yes, the games look great. Given how good they looked in their early beta stages I can only surmise that they're going to be extraordinary to behold (and hopefully many will have great gameplay as well. Full Auto was AWESOME and a lot of fun!).
In many ways this upcoming generation is far more impressive than any that have come before. The hardware alone is awesome, but more importantly developers are going to be unleashed in ways that have never before been possible. Cheer up, it's going to be an interesting 4-5 years with the new boxes!

launch titles are always 'wow', then mediocre titles come out in loads, and a couple of impressive games every 6 mo.
Uh, yeah, tell it to the PS2 launch. Their games at launch were 100% CRAP, and they didn't get any GOOD games for a YEAR. Of course, it's also true that Sony has probably 80% garbage in their lineup (and I'd estimate 40% garbage on XBox 1 and 10% garbage for Gamecube).
You're 100% wrong saying that 360 is only a marginal improvement over XBox 1. The system renders nearly 5x the polygons at 4 times the level of detail with always-on 4X AA. The systems we saw at E3 were just the Dev kits, without the final graphics processors or the triple core CPU (they were dual G5's at 2.7Ghz with Radeon X800's). The system is *greatly* superior to the original, to everything in this entire generation and it's completely on-par with Sony's PS3 offering (though without the system bottlenecks, interestingly enough).
Just wait. It's FAR too early to whine right now about a generation that doesn't even *start* for 5 months.

don't tell me i'm wrong pansey, xbox was 100x that of ps2, but was it noticable? Fact of the matter is, rendering #'s are for losers like you. Budgets for games never allow them to use full potential of hardware...go back to masturbating over benchmarks.
