This is interesting though, it's roughly equal to a Haswell 4770K@4.2-4.3 and faster than all AMD chips posted thusfar. Probably about on par with the infamous FX9590.
This chip looks real cool from here
Now what about 1366 motherboard, what is still out there that you guys would recommend for this chip?
I mean one that overclocks well, and is durable, but does not cost an arm and a leg?
Thanks
it obviously was for informational purposes. My apologies. haha
No, I was on my Jump to Conclusions® mat at the time.you couldn't have assumed this from the beginning?

~22-30% perhaps based on my W3520 vs. the similarly clocked 4770K's in the Handbrake thread. Not enough i5's listed to draw a decent estimate...~15% it looks like off hand.
do you recommend that over the Foxconn renaissance II?
I hope this new toy OCs well on my good ol' P6X58D Premium. 200 Bclk would be nice to replace my i7 920 @ 4GHz.

You guys are making OCing a spectator sport.

it was always a spectator sport!!!!
Intel's the one trying to make it into a pharm party.
The most solid board u'll find right now is probably the Gigabyte X58.
That MSI also looks pretty good.
Going form the mosfets and color layout, its probably when MSI started to please the OC community.
The 108 dollar aspect is also very hard to ignore.
If you want a lasting board tho, which can handle u abusing it, and still make u a sandwitch, its the giggy tho.
When did MSI stop catering to the OC community? I had some hot rod MSI boards back in the slot 1 days.
right prior to the military class.
The IP35 was a great clocker.. however it was terrible in endurance.
Also had one on the nastiest Vdroop, and half the vregs other vendors went with.
(asus and giggy's strong point is they never gimp'd out on the 12-16phase mosfet design.. giggy even took it up one and went 24 design on the UD7's.)
MSI had a methodology b4 they started seeing us at CES @ the XS parties.
They didnt feel a board needed to be beefy... just a great clocker.
Then we all yelled at MSI, saying no... great board meant beefy board.
So a few months after that, they told us they were releasing a military class to please the overclocking community, where the board should outlast the CPU even.
:whiste:
I never got to play with one, so i cant feedback on it tho.
But according to the specs and stats, it should be a solid board.

Welcome to gulftown you guys... ur now offically caught in what i call the blackhole of our hobby.
