hello guys ....... I am com form Viet Nam and i have 1 Xeon L5639 run with Sabertooth X58

How i can lock ratio on 20x .... i need oc more !
I am Overclocking mobo 215x18 vcore 1.27 i want push to 4.0 or more
But i set 225x18 my mainboard cant boot i must clear Cmos to re-setup again
I saw someone can lock ratio on 19 or 20 but i cant ... i dont know i miss something ..... anyone help

The people running 20x are only pushing 4ghz on two of the cores (might need correction) and rest of the cores are running at 3.6ghz.

To get 4ghz on ALL CORES your board must be able to boot at 223 base clock or higher. The highest all core multiplier is 18. 19x and 20x only works for two of the cores.

Ok so i have reached BCLK at x185 with x8 SPD and its stable for 1 hour in Prime95

when i raise the BCLK to x188 it freezes in Prime after 20 minutes at Test 3 800000
I have tried to set the QPI/VTT higher (from 1.18v) to 1.26v but no change what am i missing? Also i look in the HWinfo i see the CPU is using 1.126volt peak.Ram 1.648volt .This is avg,min,max (same number on all 3)

Some temps
CPU 62deg celsius
IOH 47deg celsius
MB 35deg celsius

Also i cant change -->
SPD to x6= no boot
Uncore x17= no boot

Here is my settings below. at BCLK x185 it works but after that no go.

SPD X8
Uncore X16
BCLK 188
QPI/VTT 1.26v
vcore [Normal]
Dynamic vcore +1.00000v

ram 1.66v 12gb corsair xms 1600mhz 9.9.9.24

The rest is auto

Please need help. Might me a memory timing problem as i need to set the tRAS manually to even get it to boot +1mhz overclock

Anyone with 6x2gb Corsair XMS 1600 here with a Gigabyte board? Also what settings do you run this cpu with? someone please? :/

Corsair HX 850W
1xGigabyte GTX580 (Will get another one this week)
Gigabyte GA EX58-UD5
12gb corsair 1600MHZ 9.9.9.24
Xeon L5639
2x 160GB Intel SSD
3x WD 2GB 7200rpm

Similar story for me. I'm on a non deluxe P6T.

I couldn't get 200BLK stable with turbo, the single thread would not pass IBT because of 20x.

I'm currently running at 16 x 209 (3.34) @ 1.24
Did get up to 16 x 218 (3.5) but couldn't get stable and temps were getting out of hand for my old Scythe Mugen 2

Would you mind posting your settings to get 200BLK stable with turbo?
Will do it as soon as I reboot

[edit - here you go]

I haven't made any effort to overclock my memory, I have some old 1.5v 1333 9-9-9-24 stuff and I didn't feel like pushing it hard or replacing it yet. Also, I haven't tried trading off QPI voltage or speed for vcore to see if I can get stable at a lower level. Everything I changed is on the AI Overclock screen. All the deep idle states are enabled.

AI Overclock: manual
CPU Ratio: Auto
Speedstep: Enabled
Turbo: Enabled
bclk: 200
PCIE: 100
DRAM: DDR3-1203MHz
UCLK: 2606MHz
QPI Link Data Rate: Auto

CPU Voltage: 1.325000
CPU PLL: Auto
QPI/DRAM Voltage: 1.250000
IOH Voltage: Auto
IOH PCIE Voltage: Auto
DRAM Bus Voltage: 1.50
DRAM * REF Voltage: Auto

Load-Line Calibration: Enabled
CPU Differential Amplitude: 900mV
CPU Clock Skew: Auto
CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled
IOH Clock Skew: Auto
PCIE Spread Spectrum: Auto

Try more QPI/VTT

Up to 1.35v is safe I believe.

There might be a BLK hole at that level, try 195.

Try manually setting your vcore. up to 1.35v is also safe.

I found this guide helpful.

Thanks but i think i have been trying QPI/VVT at 1.35v but its no change.I can go as low as 1.18v and it crashes at the same place.

Vcore doesnt change anything eather. I have not forced the Vcore to 1.35v . I have been useing Vcore dynamic and set the Vcore to normal and Vcoredyn... to 1. Not sure i need more as i see Vcore in HWinfo and maximum reading is 1.126volt .Do the CPU need more then 2.1volts then as normal is 1.1 something and +1.0000volt as dynamic?

I think this is a Ram issue as Prime crashed at lower BCLK before i set the Memory volts to 1.66 volts. Thats 0.01 volts more then the specifications for these. I cant get higher then that before i will damage my mem controller in the CPU ? 1.66volts is red in my bios so its pretty high

The thing is that i could push my core I7 to 3.6Ghz just increasing the BCLK. All other settings vas set to Auto, Even the memory timings!

With this 6 core i need to set the timings manually. There are a lot of different parameters and therefor i would like to find someone with a hexacore and 6 sticks of these memorys to compair with. So far i have found nothing.

I will post all my settings in detail when i get home from work. Hopefully someone can spot something thats wrong:$

My gole is to run this at 3.6GHz stable and then go back to 3.4 and tweak all settings. But for now i have no base to go on:'(

Thanks again for helping!

Pardon me for a newbie question..

My mate have just handed over "3 x 4gb Corsair Dominators(CMP12GX3m3A1600C9).

My Rampage III Gene board could only sense 1 stick 4gb running single channel at 1066mhz.

However If i were to put 4 sticks of dual channel channel 1600mhz ram it will sense all four sticks at 1066mhz

Please advice on what could be done.

Thank you

I really recommend going through that guide I posted.

It will take a bit of time, and you will have to be methodical, but by the end you will nail down your max overclock for BLK, RAM and CPU, from there you can settle on the best compromise between those three factors.

I'm not familiar with your motherboard, but that dynamic setting sounds kinda funky. You certainly don't want to give the option of going 1v over. I doubt it would actually do that, but...
I advise setting it manually.

What volts and timings are those dominators defaulting to?

Thanks for that.

I definitely tried more volts across the board, I might just have a bit of a dud chip I guess.

I'll have another play around one day.

What sort of temps are you getting? Under what cooling?

I've got a Thermaltake Extreme 120 (I think?) which I've had since I got the 920 just after launch, with one fan on it. TIM is some Akasa AK-455. There isn't any extra cooling in my case. The max temp I hit under single-thread burn is 71C, under multi-thread 68C. At the moment I'm just doing shell stuff and it's mostly idling at 37C.

I'm supposed to be able to control it via the motherboard but it seems to make no difference to noise or temperature where I set it

You're obviously still in auto mode somewhere, or you'd be able to change voltages & it would stick. You're missing a setting somewhere and should go thru the guide I posted. Your ram doesn't need 1.66 volts, and dynamic offset should be less than .30 volts.

Well when I was running 4.4Ghz all of the cores were @ 4.4Ghz according to HWinfo. I'll update my HWinfo to the latest and post pictures if I can duplicate it again. Recently had a hard drive crash so I lost all of my benchmarks. Nothing important, but I had a ton of benchmarks. I'm using nothing, but HDDs from now on. If I want more Read\Write I'll just setup a RAID. Only had my SSD for less than a year. Now I'll see if all cores on my rig are running @ 4.4Ghz while idle. I'm running BLCK 222.

Edit:

Ok I tried to catch all of the cores running @ 4.4Ghz. They change rapidly and idle @ 2649.7Mhz [2.6Ghz-2.7Ghz]. Man I hate how it downclocks to x18. Wish it was a way to keep my rig running @ 4.4Ghz without frying everything on the board .

Here is the screenshot:

I got my kid an L5520 to see how it clocks on my old board. Results won't be as amazing as 6 cores but should still achieve respectable benchmarks, and be good enough for some gaming and other typical chores.. $25 for it makes it a good alternative to the LGA 1366 I7's..

Update on the L5520 low power Xeon. Little brother to the L5639, this chip has the same headroom. Currently running it @ 204bclk all day long without a prob. It has not crashed once, even at 210bclk. Screenshot of Passmark & core temp, it does run a bit hot but has headroom still from TDP.. Using the big Intel HSF.. Not bad for $25

Yours would be the first...

I tried a bunch of different volts, up to 1.375 vcore and VTT

My board can do a BLK of 217-19 stable, and 223 unstable.

Ram is 1600mhz CL8, tried it with looser timings and at lower mhz and with higher volts.

Would be completely stable in IBT at 3+ threads, but 1 or 2 would fail on the first loop.

Even got it to run a single thread of Cinebench @ 4.15 (Blk 207), Single core IBT is a no go at 4ghz+

Mayb I know what is vtt?

QPI/VTT is another voltage for the CPU like vcore, except it deals with the memory controller (And Uncore?), it can take the same volts as vcore I believe.

try 1.33-1.35 on both of them whilst looking for your max overclock/troubleshooting the memory (keep an eye on temps) and later you can try lowering them back down.

~~~~~*****(ANYTHING ABOVE 1.65V ON THE RAM IS OUTSIDE OF INTEL'S OFFICIAL SPEC, DO AT YOUR OWN RISK)*****~~~~~
You can give your RAM more volts, as long as ram volts don't exceeded 0.5v above your VTT (ie. if QPI/VTT is 1.33v, Ram can be 1.82)
Damn I'm loving this chip. I'm putting up crazy good numbers. I've been messing around with it today. 4Ghz is sweet spot with the right setup. I'm thinking about making a before and after topic with all of my benchmarks. I'm going to run a ton of them. Comparing the benchmarks to my old i7-960 @ 3.9Ghz and 4.1Ghz.
Locked @ 4Ghz has gotten me:
Cinebench 11.5 = 10.25 pts
Cinebench R15 = 925 cb
WinRar 4.20 = 11,964 KB/'s
Glad I came across this chip and researched it. This thing is simply beast. I'm going to play around with the 4.4Ghz and see if I can do better. I hate the downclocks.
You can't lock in 19 or 20. Sure you can get a screenshot, but not while any program is running to stress the cpu. Won't do it.. Not gonna happen..
Show me the Cinebench screenshot.. It doesn't say 4Ghz.. BET!
